Both say they are already faded out. (they bought the xla tan as well as aftercare). One was sprayed on Tuesday, the other Wednesday.

They are part of a prominent group in my town, some of the town who's who scene, so I have to be nice to them. But I so want to tell them to shove it because there is no way they can be faded if they followed directions. When the second friend came in, she kept talking about how great the first friend looked the day after etc.

It frustrates me that they are complaining about their tan a few days later. Out of all my sprays, this is the first time I have had any complaints. I assume they didnt properly prep, but said they did. Even my release explains how to prep, maintain etc...although no one seems to read it and just signs it.

If you were in the same situation, would you just credit them back the spray? I was thinking of telling them to come back in a few weeks after their skin has exfoliated the tan off completely, explaining how to properly exfoliate and redoing them. (they each bought a package). I dont want to respray them with the current tan on so as it doesnt get double color. They were both sprayed nude so they have no comparison how light they were before the spray.

Side note, one of my friends heard them complaining about their tans whilst he was at lunch. Not knowing who they were or where they went. He just overheard some gals talking about their tans and their names. The girls were eating at a table over from him....random!
Delany,
I feel your frustration, for I have over the years, have similar experiences and have spoken to many salon owners about similar situations. You can educate some folks to your face turns blue, but sometimes they can overlook the obvious or there could be a number of factors. I am sure that being you have 10k sprays under your belt, there is no question that you know what you are doing. If I may, allow me to share a few examples of things I have learned and experienced over the years.

About 7 years ago, I had a salon owner that was private labeling solution and selling airbrush systems. She also owned and operated a tanning/ airbrush tanning salon in New Mexico. On one occasion this particular salon owner was getting ready to fly out to Ohio to demo her spray tanning systems she sold. So before hand, she sprayed herself, before flying to Ohio. While out in Ohio for 3 weeks, she had to of course, spray herself again, for she did not want to go out on an appointment to demo her spray systems, without a tan. However, when she spray tanned herself in her hotel in Ohio, the tan was much different in color versus when she sprayed herself in New Mexico. The odd thing was that she used the same solution and it was even from the same gallon that she used in New Mexico. (So how possibly could the results be different, right?) I spoke to the chemist at the time that made this particular DHA formula, to try and find out why a person would get two different results using the same identical solution , from the same gallon. At that time (7 years ago) the only thing the chemist could make sense of, was that it must have to do with the difference of climate between New Mexico and Ohio, for this was just such a weird situation.

I have heard so many stories over the years; here is another example, which really sticks with me.

We had a salon owner that was spraying a client weekly and the tan looked great and lasted everywhere, except for this person’s leg. We went over all the possibilities of why the tan would not stick to this person’s legs, (exfoliation etc) for the tan was washing off her legs only when she took her first shower. After several weeks of this, it finally dawned on the client one day, why the tan would not adhere to her legs. Her daily morning routine was to shower and exfoliate the day of the spray tan . Then she would go pour herself a cup of coffee, and in her daily routine without thinking about it, she applied lotion to her legs every morning! Problem solved, the client was so used to applying lotion to her legs, it was like second nature, and it never dawned on her that was the reason. Even though she knew to exfoliate before her spray tan !

Like I have said previously, I have heard and experienced so many variables of why spray tans fade prematurely, everything from a woman’s monthly cycle (hormones) can affect results, different medications, climate, humidity, even mild perspiration driving to the salon, even though a person has showered and exfoliated prior to their appointment, can affect the results.

This is why American Beauty International designed our Optimize™ Body Polish. This product was developed by our chief clinical registered pharmacist[/u][/b]. Initially our pharmacist was developing a product that would actually remove an existing or fading spray tan . In the process, we discovered that if you use Optimize™ as a pre-tan exfoliant immediately prior to applying DHA, it not only takes off any oils or dirt from the skin, but dissolves and removed all dead skin cells right there on the spot. This ensures that your clients are 100%, perfectly exfoliated; additionally it enhances the development of any DHA spray tan solution on the market. We even have some salons currently that do not even offer any sunless services, (only tanning beds) but will advertise that they fix and/or remove bad airbrush /sunless tans. Now granted as a sponsor, we have a banner on tan talk, we certainly want to promote Optimize™, but this product would take all the frustration out of the situation that Delany is encountering along with many other salon owners. You can use Optimize to remove the old tan and spray them again to solve this frustrating situation. Most importantly keep your clients happy!!

Please do not hesitate to call us. Actually call and ask for our general manager, Jim Koerber (ext 700), and he can better assist and explain the product, Optimize to you with all the functionality it offers. Hope this helps.
Anthony

Re: Frustrated!

Ok I called them back now THREE times (they keep freaking calling). I told them that since I didnt get to see the tan, nor was given the opportunity to fix it, BUT they were referred over, I would just credit them back their tan. Explained that this is not normal and I have never had to do this, but wanted to keep a good relationship with the blog that referred them over. Told them to feel free to schedule online when they were ready for their next tan.

They keep calling and wanting to discuss their tans still(they go to my vm as I dont answer calls whilst in appts and offer online scheduling)! What is there to freaking discuss? I am already going above and beyond for them. At this point I am ready to point out the part of my release that says no guarantees of results are given and the all sales final sections. I havent mentioned that since I was trying to keep it light and airy.

My guess is they spent too much money on vacation and need the money. OR they sat in a hot tub the day after and it stripped the tan. At any rate, they are making me super frustrated! grrr

Re: Frustrated!

Ok, I just got an email from the website I advertise on that sent them, demanding I refund them money. Really? I spent $600 and have gotten 3 clients in 6 months. I am not demanding a refund from you for not getting the results I wanted.

I just reiterated what I have already told the girls.

I def dont appreciate being bullied by a company I pay to advertise on.

The original company PharmTan was bought out by a company called American Beauty International aka ABI Dealers. They have a different toll free number, but they still sell the original Optimize Product. Their number is 877-829-7035 and I know their main website for just the Optimize is simple to remember cause it is; www.tanremover.com. Just ask for Steve or John, they both are very easy to deal with without feeling high pressured to buy anything or everything and the kitchen sink.

Re: Frustrated!

These clients are clearly just scammers. They just want a free tan. It is one thing to complain nicely and accept a reasonable solution .. but it is something else completely to demand a refund. This will blow over.
