Rep Power: 0 | Working with a promotional/model agency I need some advice. I have been working with a company that does promotions for events/music/models. They are willing to work with my mobile spray tan company so I can come spray all of their models before events. I am not sure what type of business deal to try to work out with this company. The company suggested that I can come spray all of the models and in return get advertising pictures for my site of the girls, or some advertising through them. The thing is, I'd like to see an immediate profit as well. Does anyone have any ideas of business deals I can work out with this company so I can get their business and maximize my potential with this situation? I appreciate any feedback! |

What I mean is .. if you go out there and do your spray tan for all the models and get pictures - why would you want to keep doing it when you already have pictures? It seems like it would be MUCH easier to go find some girls/guys from (craigslist/college board/etc.) and spray them for free and take pictures with a model release. |

If maybe 2-3 I would say do a freebie to get your foot in the door. Then charge for sprays after that. If it could be a good guaranteed gig it might be worth discounting your sprays. Or you can always give them a rate and tell them once they proven to be a repeat client you can work more with fees . But it is your time plus you are going to them. They pay hair And makeup people I'm sure. Too many times when starting out we tend to give away free services for exposure but you have to know when it is being taken advantage of. If there are alot of models you still have to pay for solution . I'm not saying not to do it because pics are good for marketing but only do a freebie once and you decide how many |

I appriciate the responses :) I think I'm going to write back saying I would do a discounted tan for their girls in exchange for advertising. If she says yes...I'll probably give it a shot and see how it goes. I agree with you both, I shouldn't be giving out free tans. |

Rep Power: 14 | Re: Working with a promotional/model agency I owned an agency like this in my younger years. No way they agency will pay to get girls sprayed later. Promo girls are just cute girls. You are responsible for your own hair, make up etc. Heck when I was an official Budweiser girl, I still had to do everything on my own. It would be good advertising the first time, but doubtful in the long run. |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Working with a promotional/model agency why not just sign up for it and then quit once you have your photos?:) your doing them a favor after all, no pressure to commit... I think its wise to do some proffessional shots and tan them for free-its a win win for everyone...u get the pics and they get the tans,,,because just getting people from craigslist is kind of risky-because some people are not comfortable posing with bikinis, nor do they have experiance modeling, also, when models are photographed they are sometimes photographed in studios or in controlled light settings, by proffessional photographer (so they wind up looking better), and also theres usually photo shop involved... i know when i first started i didnt have proffessional shots so I just took some of my clients myself (but most clients didnt want their photo everywhere-were shy, or didnt want everyone knowing they had a fake bake!) Once I got proffessional models to show off my tans, with proffessional photos, i found that it attracted more clients. So my advice to you is, spray tan models for free for now, and then stop when you have what you need :) |
