Rep Power: 0 | Question about business names Hi, I'm new to the boards and I'm so happy to have stumbled across this gem, what a wealth of info! I'm in the process of starting a mobile tanning business, already ordered my equipment, decided on a web host that offers me facebook marketing credits as well but I have a dilemma. My Mobile tanning business name is already taken! I wracked my brain for days and liked the idea of using the number "2" instead of "to" Came up with "Glow 2 Go" and then found that there is another mobile tanning company in California with the same name. There is also a Glow To Go as well. I spoke with someone who told me that unless it's in the state of NY and not a corporation then i should be able to use the name. Do you know if this is true? Thanks in advance! |

I have a friend that has a salon and the town over has one with a similar name and people think they are one in the same. You want something unique. You dont want people to get a bad spray at the other then slam you about it. change the letters to a number isnt a big enough of a change to be unique |

Anyone know the laws regarding fictitious business names? So far many of the names I like are not within 15 miles of me... Please if you can help --- reply! Thanks!!!! Any name ideas you want to toss my way? Has anyone tried using the iPhone app "square" or "intuit" to accept credit cards?Really Really cool and the scanner is free! Check it out! The scanner plugs right into you phone, swipe the card and the $$ is deposited into your account! A small process fee is all.... Thanks-please reply! |

I had another name picked, but it was taken on the state's website. They said I could still use that name, since it was "inactive" with the state, but the lady said you want to be careful doing that because of tax issues it could cause. I would think if you're on one coast and they're on another, you could still use it if you wanted to, but keep in mind, the domain name may be taken for your website. Also, if you do nothing else, buy your domain name before you register your ficticious name. I've heard that other people will buy it once they see it registered and then it will cost you more to get. I'm just getting started too. Best of luck to you! |
