Question Salon owner concerned about fumes & overspray

I am interested in working in a Salon. The owner of the salon has been told that the fumes and overspray will ruin the entire salon. I need advice on people working in a salon. Do you have issues with fumes or overspray getting into entire salon? What do you do to prevent this from happening? We havent built anything yet, so what can we do to prevent problems with spray tanning ? All advice really appreciated!

We have a separate room with curtains around the tanning area. We have one extraction fan and don't have much overspray past the immediate tanning area. We wet swiffer the floors in the rest of that room cause of some sticky over spray but the fan really helps keep that to a minimum. I would definitely keep your tanning area closed off from the rest of the salon.

There are no fumes. Overspray can be a problem. Ours is in a seperate room, with an overspray reduction booth (Norvell). The walls do not go all the way to the ceiling though. I can sometimes see where the overspray travels. It's not bad, but I know it.

Filter the air in the rooms with a rerusable filter attached to a 400 cubic ft per minute kitchen exhaust vent and keep up on your houskeeping. No problems. :) Hope it helps

Using a turbine not an airbrush will also keep down the over spray.

Re: Salon owner concerned about fumes & overspray

I have been doing alot of sprays right in my kitchen with a pop-up tent and a reduction fan and I have not had any over spray problems. The fan REALLY helps and the filters are very cheap that I get right from Walmart.
