Rep Power: 0 | My airbrush boutique is open and doing fabu! The doors officially opened to my store front airbrush tanning boutique a week ago. We're only 4 blocks from the cruise ship terminal and getting lots of peeps wanting to go or go home golden. On day 5 of being open I sold my first unlimited airbrush tanning membership. Big plus with being store front vs. only mobile is I am carrying lots of retail items and sell as much or more of the cost of the airbrush tan to most customers. Also offering mobile service but most peeps love the look and feel of the boutique and want to be there so AOK! Cheers, Sharon |

We are in Atlanta and have been doing very well but I have often wondered if we could do better if we had a salon/boutique. We are currently doing 75-100 tans per week but would like to move to the next level and do 150-200 tans per week. What kind of space do you have? How big, and what are you paying per square ft? Did you raise prices to cover extra expense (overhead)? Love to hear from both of you:) Thanks John www.tanologyatl.com |

If you are already doing that many tans per week, I say it is definitely worth it. I got SO much more business when I opened a store front, b/c a lot of people aren't comfortable having strangers in their homes. All of my regulars followed me. Location is EVERYTHING! I opened in the same building as 2 well known hair salons, and we feed off of each others business. I did not raise my prices. I did a ton of research of what other places were charging for the airbrush , and make sure that I'm always a little under their prices. People do call around, so you want to have the best deals. Having more customers come in a lower prices vs less come in at higher prices = more money!! I set my salon up so that I have plenty of "lounge" space. This brings in tons of bridal and bachelorette parties. I close the salon down for them, serve champagne and refreshments, and everyone has a great time. My rent is paid with just one party! Also, if you find a place with an extra room, you can rent it out to a massage therapist, or something similar, to get more money to help with rent/utilities. Within 2 months of opening, our salon was named best tanning salon in the state by a local television station! :) Just keep your prices down and customer service up, and you'll be a success! Hope this helps! Good luck! www.sculptedtans.com |

I've got about 1200 sq feet and also have a nice center lounge area with a couch/loveseat, etc. I have two private airbrush rooms and my clients LOVE coming to the store front location. I've been open 6 weeks and am already covering rent, utilites and advertising. Now to keep bumping it up and get an owner draw, LOL! |
