Lightbulb Anyone tried making their own solution?

Just wondering. Doesn't seem too complicated. Water, DHA, bronzer, an anti-microbial, some moisturizer , and an anti-bacterial?? Any luck?

Re: Anyone tried making their own solution?

Why not just make your own solution and keep it to yourself... you control the quality. Why would you consider selling the best to anyone else. I dont think anyone is getting rich selling solutions. Maybe if their selling poor quality equipment, false certifications, and crappy training courses, then i can see the greed $$. Most solution suppliers dont make it themselves to start with. They usually buy from overseas manufactures mainly in India i believe. Then markup and sell to you.

Re: Anyone tried making their own solution?

I was thinking that myself, besthands. Not sure why everyone feels the need to be a rude smarta$$. I was serious. How hard can it really be? There doesn't have to be that many ingredients. I have talked to a manufacturer, but the hardest part seems to be finding the DHA powder (as far as I can tell). I was planning on just making my own (to avoid any upcharge) and not sell it publicly, however, since large manufacturers buy in bulk for their ingredients, it may not pan out...just wondering what others thought or if they've tried...

Re: Anyone tried making their own solution?

I wasnt being rude at all, im always serious whn it comes to the business. If you are truely interested in making your own juice, check out the soultion manufactures from lndia, ill have to check if i still have samples. They will custom blend any scent, additives, % DHA, water based, or aloe based, and at a cost of around $45-$60 @gal. I tried em but could hardly understand em when i called so i just used the samples and went back to my reg stuff.

Re: Anyone tried making their own solution?

Besthands...i thought you were very nice & helpful (you always are in all the posts I've interacted with you on)...it was the other two I felt were snarky.

I have an engineering degree, so I guess my little brain is always turning on "how are things made". It just seems like a decent was to save some money, like you mentioned. I can totally understand how the India phone conversations would get old!

I wonder...do you need to have a true manufacturing facility to mix it all up, or do you think the general public can buy DHA powder? Seems like something a little distilled water, a stove, some DHA powder, and such & you might be able to make it from home. From a liability standpoint, however, the risk will probably outweigh the benefit...who knows....

Re: Anyone tried making their own solution?

Yes i agree, making the "juice" sould be a snap. The ingredents are readily available and the mix would be a snap. I didnt want to burst your "bubble" about the liability issue, but its huge in any business, especially the beauty business! And to top that off applying product to a body would just scream law suit if anything was even questionable about the product. Its amazing how many folks here are spraying without any type of liability insurance. That insurance is usually only available to liscensed professionals. Gambling their life, home, and family future security on a chump change spray tanning business! I believe the very near future will bring heavy restrictions and regulations to this area of the beauty business, and with good reason! Just a year ago most of the folks posting here had been in business for 2-7 years, now every other post here is how to open a new spray tanning business.
