Rep Power: 0 | Pharm Tan's Optimize Horrible!!! I read on here that this product was great for removing spray tan from the skin, so I bought a liter of it. It surprises me that not one person mentioned that it burns and itches the skin significantly... I just had a client break out in hives from this product from the irritation it created!! I am furious! The company made no mention of this potential reaction when I bought this product. The first trial run I did of this product was on my skin and it burned a little bit (it was hard to keep it on for the full 5-6 min). My manager tried it and had the same reaction. But it did the job and got the sunless tanner off, so I brought it into the salon as a new service to remove sunless tanner (all the time warning clients it will burn and itch so they are not shocked by the feeling). The first client it was used on I get a call from my manager saying that she is in tears from the pain the solution was causing her! She was in so much pain, I rushed over there and was thinking of calling an ambulance from the sound of her reaction. After doucing her in water, the burning finally subsided, but she was left with several rash looking areas! I immediately took the product off the shelves and out of service. I took it home to demonstrate on my business partner and 5 min into putting it on her, she had NO reaction at all. So I sprayed myself again (at this point, I had no sunless product on my skin at all) and I had NO reaction... much different than my first experience with this solution ! My question is for those of you that use Pharm Tan's Optimize... is this burning, itching sensation a result of using it with DHA?? If there is no DHA on the skin, is that why I did not have a reaction the 2nd time?? I am so confused about this product and how it reacts. Sometimes burns, sometimes nothing?? Doesn't seem consistent... what am I missing! Please help! |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Pharm Tan's Optimize Sun Baby... My first time using the Opitmizer..I had great results and no issues.....(obviously by my prior post) THEN I sprayed three of my clients to remove old tans and give them a fresh "canvas" and no problems...UNTIL the next morning when they showered and the tan completely washed off and then it followed with a week of them peeling like snake skin. I was dumbfounded!!! I followed directions exactly as given and when I called Pharm tan they stated they had a few concerns reported to them, so they suggested spraying and letting it sit for the 5-6 minutes then rub off with a wet towel. Ok so i did round 3 myself again. HOLY COW it burned soooo bad!! Def did not last the 5 minutes, I jumped in the shower and the itching/burning subsided. I have absolutely NO clue why it reacts this way!!! I love the Violet Drops they provide though and will be the only thing I will continue to use from them. Sorry you didn't have a good outcome...not consistent at all!! Goodluck to you though!! |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Pharm Tan's Optimize My first time using the product on my self was terrible. I had it sprayed on using a HVLP. The burning was so bad I was in tears. I wiped it on my face as they told me to and it left me with two burnt areas on my cheek and chin- I looked like I had rug burns all over my face! I did end up trying it again a few weeks later using an airbrush and it didn't burn bad at all. The tan came off great but my sunless I put on didn't seem to develop well. I've only used it on a couple people in small areas like the feet. There is no way I will spray an entire body with it. I brought this up to them and they sound shocked that I had any side effects! |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Pharm Tan's Optimize That is the exact response that I got when I called them regarding the burning sensation... like it was some un-forseen experience. I will not buy anything from this company for fear they are not telling me everything they should. They not once told me that I may experience burning, itching, hives... etc. Def not a good way to retain customers. I am not willing to place the repuation of my business in the hands of a company that cannot disclose all information related to their products! |

Honestly, I have better luck driving to Sally's beauty supply and grabing a $3 bottle of Ion Sensitive Scalp 40 Volume Creme Developer. After about 5 minutes on the skin, it's itchy as all get out, but nothing's worked better for me. I only use it on myself, never clients. |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Pharm Tan's Optimize Jim said that the burn was like the burning experience you get when you work out.... Obviously Jim has never used his product because it feels like you are going to get a chemical burn. I could never use this on a client. Even with the burn it didn't remove most of my tan. |

Rep Power: 18 | Re: Pharm Tan's Optimize I dont understand the whole concept of removing a spray tan to begin with! In 8 years of spray tanning and application of over 4500 tans i've never needed nor been asked to remove someones tan. I believe the whole idea of a magicial pretan PH sprays are highly overstated in terms of benifet and at the same time raise the liability of said product and service. There is no substitute for proper pre tan prep. on the clients part. In the case of a botched spray tan , the only advise i offer is to tell the client they may want to do business with a more experenced, and knowledgable technician next time. We are not in the business of erasing other salons mistakes, as once you touch it you own it. Not to offend any other points of view but, the only way to beccome good at this whole spray tan business is to do the service over and over and over. Make your own mistakes, pay attention, learn from your mistakes with time and practice you will pay your dues and if you stay with it you wil be sucessful. This business is not for the get rich quickers, and every bored housewife looking to cash in on the next cash cow! Nor is it likely to continue to be nearly as profitable as it has been in the last 8 years. Sorry to rant here but i've watched this forum and the local spray tan business environment turn into a near free for all, with the trunkslammers, and wannabes looking to make a fast $$. This segment of the beauty industry seriously needs more regulation to protect the public from the half azzers. |
