Artesian LVLP spray equip--good or bad?

Whisper TC-3 spray equip is not getting good comments due to warranty problems with Apollo on the gun. So Artesian Tan now has a new one specially designed with the help of CJ (the owner at Artesian) He's worked closely with this manufacturer that is Apollo's main competition but he would not tell me the name of the manufacturer. Since it is brand new on the market a little leary of it
($699) with a 4 yr warranty. Has anyone purchased this, any problems, do you like it? thanks so much!

Re: Artesian LVLP spray equip--good or bad?

Hi there, I am also contempating buying the Artesian LVLP machine and it looks like a quality machine actually made by American Turbine -- the only problem that I foresee is that you can't attach an airbrush to it... These people make turbine engines for the paint industry and they have gotten together with artesian to make a quality machine. If you look at another post, I found a similar machine made by another Turbine company which is essentially the same machine. I think the greater benefit from ordering from Artesain would be the support that you get from the Company which cannot be understated if you are green like me (I got no responses to the online questions I posted to the Turbine company)....So I have narrowed my choices down to the Artesain machine (because of weight and quality) and the Maximist Pro (from all the reviews). I am also going to try out my friend's Fantasy Tan machine to see if it is worth the investment (I am not sure that the steep jump in price translates to vastly superior application or ease in maintenance). Fantasy Tan machine does do airbrushing so that you don't have to get a seperate machine if you want to do make up, etc. Good luck to you. Be well and take care.

Re: Artesian LVLP spray equip--good or bad?

hello lamamama!

I went ahead and purchased from artesian and you are right about the customer service even though I know what I am doing after 5+ yrs it is still mechanical and you need help or repairs and that is ususally on an emergency type situation (murphy's law you know!).

I will comment that it is not as quiet as they claim so it is difficult to have a conversation when you are in a small room like I have (approx 7x6). Also the hose is 10 ft long which is too long for my small room. It is a very thick, garden hose type so it is NOT bendable or flexable. My clients and I both step on it and it is a problem for me. I called American Turbine and a smaller 5ft hose is avail for $29 + tax/shipping and they would not trade it out so I am looking into a cheaper solution . They also said I was the first to complain about the hose and the noise. I do love how the gun works and it is easy and fast. Customers are happy as they are drier faster, less sticky and out the door faster. I used to use a compressor with a makeup airbrush gun from BearAir Express but outgrew that technology as I wear out machines too quickly. The gun is somewhat heavy and I am getting a calous on the inside of my right thumb. The last issue is there is much more overspray than I used to have with the smaller gun although they all claim it should be less. So I actually use more solution than I did before but I get clients out the door faster so technically I can do more people to offset having to buy solution more often. Where are you located?
