New Season ..... No changes....

So spring has sprung and a new tanning season begins....

Ive notice a similar trend this year as well....

..... users are asking for feedback from other salon owners and techs and they get barraged by vendors....

Seriously, cmon! many of those vendors are already advertising on this site.... and then hijack with regard to their products.....

Is there going to be some form of moderation with regard to this issue? Even with paying advertisers, will there be some way to lesson the thread hijacks? ...

Many vendors who advertise on here already receive great reviews from their existing clients......why dont we let users who post on here and those that have used products give feedback etc.

shaking head..... here we go again....another season and another 6 months of bs

In the thread in question, you started it by saying "hey - I can't wait to try this new solution from the company I love". Then 6 months later, you finally came back to report "I tried it and I love it".

That was 9 months and 13 pages of posts ago.

In the meantime, many other posters - paid sponsors for this site and others - have weighed in on their opinions on the solution YOU tried and loved - as well as other ones THEY have tried and loved - or didn't love. In some cases, the sponsors have made offers for OTHER people looking for Sunless solution to try their product for free - I'm sure many were happy to have that offer!

It didn't appear you were looking for "feedback" - that is, you weren't saying "hey - before I waste my money - anyone try this one yet??".

Instead, you were just making a declaration of support for a company you like that was bringing out a new solution in their line.

That said - I don't think it is a "hijack" of "your" thread for others to chime in....even if they say something other than what you said to start it.

We moderators do what we can to make this a nice site for ALL. Sorry if you don't always agree with our approach to the "big picture" but it would be appreciated if you didn't try to dictate what people may participate in what threads, what they may say AND what we mods must do when it doesn't fit what you prefer or risk being "called out".

Thanks!

I agree with kggonline. Vendors pay for advertising and that apparently gives them the right to push their product with every question that is asked. Their advertising that should be enough.

I can see both sides here.

Advertisers pay so their company name can be endorsed here. Therefore they have the right to engage posters in conversation about their product.

On the flip side-

If the advertisers are pushy and interject too often, it could also discourage posters from wanting to do business with them. No one want to be inundated with pushy sales tactics.

DB - the pushy vendors is what I was referring to.I have one in mind that has really taken pushy to the extreme.

Re: New Season ..... No changes....

Sometimes what may seem "pushy" to one person - because they are more experienced and seasoned, have been on the boards longer, spend more time here on many threads, etc.....

...may seem really HELPFUL to another poster - who is newer, just signed up at Tantalk, only "pops in" from time to time, etc....

If a sponsor - or any poster - is bothering you - the best advice is just to ignore their posts! And of course, if it is a sponsor, you also have the choice NOT to use their products/services if it really is a thorn for you.

LOL you couldn't possibly think that salon owners should pay to hear vendors try to sell to them?? :P

There should be respect for the sponsors but it should STOP there. If you have a good product and great customer service then you don't need to plead for business on here you should be able to count on your satisfied clients to do that for you.

Brian is a perfect example of a good product. He doesn't need to tell you that you should hire him, he has so many clients that will vouch for him here including myself.
