Question 3M HVLP 220 QSP HELP!

Hi! I have been spraying with the HVLP 220 and am having terrible leaking and spitting from my gun. I have adjusted my control knobs, tightend everything, tried everything. Is it possible I have a faulty gun or parts that are not working properly? Please help if you are currently using this gun or one similar and can point me in the right direction.

Not really sure where your leak is coming from from your blog. But if it is from your fittings you can always try plumbers tape and try that. Remember that the plumbers tape always goes one direction on the fittings.

Re: 3M HVLP 220 QSP HELP!

Unfortunately we have tried the tape as well. It seems as if it is leaking from the front nozzle. But it spits solution about every 10 seconds or so too. I thought it was from the build up of air pressure? Is this common? Not only is the spitting and leaking a mess I feel like I am wasting so much product!

Re: 3M HVLP 220 QSP HELP!

I had the same problem, leaking and the cup not preasurizing properly. I do not have the 3M but an Appollo Sun Mist. I changed the white gasket and that seemed to help. I also make sure to keep my gun very clean. If even a bit of solution gets in the trigger area it'll leak. Can you take your gun apart and clean the needle area? Maybe that is what is causing the nozzle to leak.....goodluck!
