If you are a business, mobile or based out of a salon, you will need insurance.

Business Liability Insurance

I would suggest that you contact your local chamber of commerce and meet with their new business mentoring department. These are successful business owners in your community who have experience and expertise in assisting entrepreneurs in venturing into the small business world.

If I already have insurance through my salon wouldn't that cover me? Ths is not a seperate business. It is all under the same name.

It still would need to be listed on your policy to be a covered for it specifically.

So I took over a salon......

as crystal advised def have it added to your existing policy.

Since you are a new business owner def engage yourself with your local chamber of commerce.

:)

Re: Do I need insurance to start mobile tanning??

The craziest person we had sue was someone that had a "panic" and "anxiety" attack in a stand-up unit. We heard screaming and breaking of lamps one day. She states that she was "locked in by us." Of course she locks it, not us!

Anyway, after thinking she was locked in she panicked and started bashing anything and everything in her reach. We had no idea what the heck was happening in that booth?

When we got to the source of the noise the door crashed open and out she tumbled onto the floor wearing nothing! She was cut up and bleeding all over her arms.

She grabbed her clothes and started dressing in the hall, all the while hysterically crying and shouting over and over that she was locked in. I asked her why she was concerned about the door when she was obviously still undressed? We could not console her or help her and she ran out of the salon. There we stood with a smashed up booth wondering what the **** just happened?

So a few weeks later we get the call from her lawyer. They want medical bills paid ,pain and suffering, attorney costs AND lack of consortium damages ...I had to look that up (unable to have relations with her spouse due to recent trauma).

Now....she caused over $3000.00 in damage to our booth. Anyway, we used our insurance to cover legal costs to defend this. We won, because she has a history of panic attacks, anti-anxiety meds and claustrophobia. So the judge opined that is what the episode was.

But, we needed $5500.00 for legal costs and then the $3000.00 ish for booth repairs.

We were not awarded any damage costs either because the judge said we could not prove the door was not working properly and that is what he perceived as the catalyst to her attack...whatever! We got awarded for the insurance deductible only. Case dismissed.

But my message here is you NEVER can postulate what your insurance is needed for with this crazy world. But you are glad it is there when you need it.
