Rep Power: 0 | Lotion Prior to Sunless? I usually tell all my clients to have clean skin, free of make up, lotion, deodorant, ext... This time of year everyone has very very dry skin here in the cold weather. Does anyone suggest for people with extra dry skin to apply lotion before getting sprayed in the certain areas that are prone to being dry? Would that help any? Or is that a complete No No?? Any advice is much appreciated...Thank you!! |

I had never tanned anyone right after getting a massage, always read that's a big no-no. So last Wed. I had a friend who was willing to be a guinea pig, get a massage and then a tan. The next day her tan looked great. I haven't seen her since, so don't know about the fading. Should see her tomorrow. I know the MT uses Aveda products so not sure how all lotions would be. |

Rep Power: 16 | Re: Lotion Prior to Sunless? Lotion is a barrier. Oil is a barrier. Barrier equals barrier. You got lucky maybe, or it was an oil like grape seed that absorbs quickly? MOST lotions and oils will just be a barrier to the tan going on evenly or the tan taking at all. So that is russian roulette if you don't instruct them to have clean skin. People talk and word gets out so don't play games with clients or our Spray Tanning Industry... do your homework. |

Agree I also tell clients to come in with clean skin but in the winter months everyone skin is different and for clients with dry skin if you dont put a mosturizer on those parts then people wll turn orange or be very dark in these areas. I have been spraying people for over five years and I always use Olay lotion and my clients are very pleased I have never had a problem. I never let my clients use their own lotion I apply it because all lotions are different I read up an did my research and some lotions will have an affect. Im very dedicted to pleasing my clients |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Lotion Prior to Sunless? Before I tan myself, I put a light moisturizer on my face and my hands because right after washing, they are extremely dry. In addition, I use a moisturizing spray on hands, elbows, knees and feet (all the time, not just winter). It has never affected the way the tan develops. |

Did I say that I tell my clients to come in on oiled up? No I did not and do not. I did an experiment and found the results interesting. This is my business, I'm not going to play games with my livelihood, so stop judging. Back on topic I offer lotions for hands, feet and knees to those that have dry skin. |
