SPOTS ON SKIN THAT WONT TAN Halt works wonders on SUN SPOTS, but if she has lost pigment in her skin (as we have a few clients who have that disorder) it will never tan. She would have to use stage makeup. If there is no melanin in her skin in certain spots, she cannot tan. Nor would Sunless work if she has lost pigment. |

I have had a client recently have some small white spots on her upper arms and upper legs. She said she has gotten these with both Mystic Tanning and Airbrush tanning. Any ideas? She has another appointment with me Friday... |

The white spots show up because it prevents the skin from tanning in those areas. This is not from tanning and it is not something that the customer got from a tanning salon. The fact that the rest of the surrounding skin is tanning just makes the pre existing condition evident. What Tinea Versacular is, is a fungus that grows on the skin surface. It is pretty common and it is not contracted from tanning beds or spray booths. Remedies are applying Selsun Blue shampoo, sun spot remover, prescription ointment, etc... to thew affected areas for two to three weeks and it will go away. Everyone freaks out that they think it is because of tanning but it is not, it is just that the tanning makes it more noticeable. Educate yourselves on this and then educate your customers. Burying the myths starts with educating yourselves about all aspects of the industry that you work in. |
