Sales tax?

In DE, we do not have sales tax. If you are mobile (or even in a salon, for that matter), do you charge sales tax for a tan?

Also, I know a lot of you are in large states, so traveling to another state to do business isn't feasible for you...but if you do go to another state, do you need a business license for that state as well as your "home state"?

Re: Sales tax?

Obviously each state and city has its own tax laws, but tanning is a service. In many areas services are not taxed. You will need to pay taxes for the area that you are doing business in, which means getting a Tax ID, as well as a business license. I'm not a lawyer and you should probably solicit the advice of one regarding multi state issues.

Re: Sales tax?

You only charge sales tax in the state that your business is registered and have a physical location in. You do not charge sales tax for out of state work. If your state does not charge sales tax then you obviously do not charge in your home state either.
