Whereas, if you at least have your location, you can spray more people in that same amount of time. |

Does anyone have pictures of how they lay out a Sunless only salon? I am trying to decide how to create the rooms and decorate? |

![]() | Re: Store Front, Mobile, or both need advice Here is the thing with the spray tan techs I rev share with in my salons. They always start out with big promises and being in the salons everyday. Then because of the amount of business they start getting lazy on their promises. I am the only one that seems to market the air brush they do. All the customers they spray are MY current customers. They promise to bring in outside customers and I have YET to see one. They get a rev share of my business when they sell products and spa services...NONE sold to date. My store does the bookings and the sprayer just calls and shows up to spray instead of being in there and marketing herself. She was scheduled over 100 sprays in October alone and they were ALL my customers. I have gone through 3 airbrush techs and I am about to squash ever bringing one in and just do it internally. So I start to wonder if I should just have one of my employees or myself do all the air brush because then I get 100% of the revenue. |

Yes as a salon owner, it would be better for you do put the investment and keep 100% of the profits, but for her, if the salon doesn't offer it and was servicing the salons clients for something that they don't currently offer, that's a bonus for the salon owner. Downfall for the salon owner. The spray tech decides to leave, she'll take all the spray customers with her. Downfall for the spray tech, salon gets new customers from spray tech and decides to put their own equipment in and do it themselves, salon keeps spray techs customers. If you want to service a tanning salon's customers, then you should charge at least $35-$40 for in store spray, the salon should get no more than $10 per as it didn't cost them anything. If they are supplying everything and all you do is show up and spray, then all you would take is $10 for the 10 minutes it took you to spray the customer. As for renting a studio for weekends only....what's the point? The landlord and bills are billed based on a month....so they won't stop coming. Either you go storefront all week (can close for 1 day if you want) or don't bother. You're better off paying the tanning salon $10 a tan to use their space whenever you need rather than paying a heck of a lot more $$$$ to rent your own space with all the cost involved. Once you start signing contracts for phone lines, rent, etc etc....you'll be paying for a while, even if it doesn't work out. So if you're not ready....then skip it or you'll be sorry. Rent a room from a salon owner and let them worry about the bills.

Kinda like Redfish82. Husband and I are looking at purchasing a building that is priced nicely. Very large building, he would put his business on one side and I would section mine off on the other with a seperate entrance. Still will be a few months or longer before everything is set if we decide to purchase. I agree any pictures of a sunless salon would be great for ideas. |
