Mobile Tanning Safety
 

If your a woman doing mobile tanning, what safety precaution do you take when going out to a strangers home? Next question. Would you go spray a man if he wants you to go to his home? If yes, do you take additional safety precautions?

How would you know there would only be a woman once you get there? Actually my biggest fear would be a dog when they think you're shooting thier owner with a gun.
I would not go on any mobile appointment alone unless I already know the person. To me that is just plain stupidity.

And lets turn the tables-

I would never let a stranger in my home (not to mention 2). My husband would have to be there and I'd still be uncomfortable. I don't even answer my door when I'm alone.

My home is well, my home. It's only welcome to friends and family.

I don't spray males period unless they are the groom or part of a tanning party. I hated to do this but I get a few calls and emails that were pretty scary. Most of my ladies are from handing out business cards, not calls, so I get to meet them first. I usually tell two people the address of where I am going to be and I call them when I leave. I live in a small town though so naturally things would be different in a big city.

I live and work in Chicago, so I share your concerns. I bring pepper spray in my bag, but have never had any problems. I go alone, but do not accept male clients unless they are part of a couple or tanning party. I also have many clients based on referral so that helps. I google any new clients just to have a background. Ummm, no dog problems yet. Everyone is courteous to keep there dog in a separate room or in a cage. If I went in twos, I would have to split the profits, now to me that seems like plain stupidity. Plenty of people go into stangers home for work - maids, babysitter, repair people, cable, phone, peapod. If I can survive in the big bad city, you can too. And if people feel that its plain stupidity, Ill gladly take their business. Just be smart and aware of your surroundings and do your research. Leave your calender with someone you check in with. Be safe and make money!

Also, look up ZIllow or Google Earth with the addy so you can see what the neighborhood looks like. Then if you are still having weird vibes bring someone. When I walk into a new clients house I call my partner or husband and let them know that I am there and leave the addy and phone number and that I will call again when I am done in front of the new client first thing!
