What makes it "Rapid" is below (Direct from Merck's webite), just a DHA blend with a ingredient called Troxerutin. The blend is VERY expensive which is why any solution made with it is very costly and the jury is still out on it's actual performance. Which is also why you only see very few companies (Know of 2) using it in Solutions as of yet, more used today in lotions/self tanners etc. Tried it, IMO not worth it. TD News Release Phone +49 6151-72 2529 DHA Rapid speeds up the self-tanning process In May 2006 the Merck KGaA is introducing DHA Rapid – a new “tanning accelerator” that speeds up the self-tanning process. In today’s society, tanned skin symbolizes health, beauty and dynamism, and self-tanning preparations are popular for everyone who wants that healthy glow to their skin without the sun’s damaging rays. Classic self-tanning preparations induce a reaction between the active agent dihydroxyacetone (DHA) and the natural amino acids of the uppermost skin layers; the desired tan usually appears after two to six hours. Compared to sunbathing, this is a very short period of time – but not short enough for that spontaneous candlelight dinner. Merck speeds up the tanning process with DHA Rapid – a synergistic mixture of DHA and the flavonoid Troxerutin. Products with DHA Rapid not only work faster, they offer clear advantages over conventional self-tanning products: a smooth and particularly even skin tone is produced and anti-inflammatory and anti-aging properties are provided. Moreover, unpleasant odors in the course of the tanning reaction can be diminished. Yet, the tan remains substantive, meaning, it doesn’t wash off, and only fades after several days through natural skin reproduction. DHA Rapid can be combined with most cosmetic ingredients in all types of formulations, if some fundamental rules are considered. A concentration of approximately 3 % is recommended. DHA Rapid is soluble in aqueous media, induces a fresh yellowish coloration to the formulation base, and is ideal for use in all day care applications. |

In the summer heat many clients growl at the fact they they shouldnt shower for 8-12hours when theyre coming in for a spray at say 10am and the event is at say 4pm. Im actually going to try out the 12.5% on me and shower 3 hours later and see how it goes... :P im always the guinea picg lol | |
