Re: Marketing this winter IDEAS? Got any?

I just bought into my sisters spray salon. They've been open for two years and business hasn't been going real well. The marketing I have planned in the next few months before slow season starts.
1. I just got done building the website www.MyHealthyGlow.com
2. 100 yard signs are on their way to put up around town with website, business and number. Plan on putting ten out a week for the next 10 weeks.
3. Web Based - a) Still working my way through a facebook marketing book. As soon as I'm done I'll be makeing a facebook page. b) Just registered with a bulk email service. We have every email address of every client that we've spray over the past two years. c) Google Ads (get our name at the top of all search engine searches) d) SEO is in the works...that will be pretty expensive to get a pro to do it.
4. Our first direct mail postcard campaign will begin by October
5. Lastly we have two local bridal shows in the area of the next few months that we will be working on setting up a nice booth for.

This is all I can think of on a minimal budget. Any other ideas or any advice from anyone who has experience doing these types of marketing.

The best way to market and will generate instant business is go into every hair salon within 10 miles of where you are and tan all the hairdressers for free.............. i started with 10 clients and in 6 weeks have over 400 just from giving away my tan to hairdressers

That's a great idea Ian! There's no better client to please than one that is in a social environment all day who has the impact of recommending you to all of their clients.

Focus around the holidays. People love to spray tan for Halloween, Holiday parties and especially New Years. I market a spray tan special for the 48 hours prior to those holidays.

I don't put it on sale but I add something like a 10 minute bed tan prior to the spray or 2 complimentary samples of the after care moisturizer or free prep spray with session. Anyone one of those adds value to the purchase and keeps the price integrity there.

Vanity,

Your facebook page is great. I like the you tube spots you have on there and your before and after pics are excellent. Are you using South Seas Tahitian. Are you pics after the first shower or right after you spray them?

The hair salon idea is a great one. I have gotten alot of business that way. I work in one and do all the stylist for free and have gotten numerous clients that way. I also do a couple stylist and receptionist from other salons that send me people.

I was thinking about going to the Hooters, Wing House (knock off hooters), and an Irish bar/resteraunt where the girls are half naked and dropping off some promo fliers.

Thanks for throwing us under the bus there chief. Your "about us" page is a real work of art and puts your ignorance of the sun and vitamin D on perfect display.

Good job using scare tactics to stir up business.

Thanks for not destroying tanning salons on your facebook. I like how you talk about the positives of spraying as opposed the negatives of UV.

Healthy Glow

You have an entire section of your website dedicated to the so called dangers of tanning beds. Maybe you should educate yourself on the UV and Vitamin D and the benefits of sunlight exposure. www.sunlighttruth.com
