New Mobile Business Please Help

I am starting my own mobile spray tan business and I am still in the research phase. Everything I read online is so confusing...the equipment( airbrush vs. hvlp), the solutions, etc. What are the basics I need to know? What equipment does everyone recommend? What is the best solution ? I have read about Mystic Tan, Body Bronze , EnvyTan, Scentual Sun. Does anyone have any recommendations? Also, do you need to buy the disposable undergarments, nose filters, tent? What is the best distributor to go through to purchase everything? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Re: New Mobile Business Please Help

hey, how has it been going so far? I'm a relatively new mobile technician in australia. i find this website pretty overwhelming, but so great for tips and a closer look into what the established businesses are doing.
i'd love to get my hands on some US solutions, as they often end up to be cheaper - even with freight! i really can't recommend any brands to you, other than Vani-T, which could be sold in the US.
You should really get someone - even if it's just your own technician - to give you a few tips. maybe you could pay for a friend to get hers done while you watch what the technician does. i learnt similarly to that. there are companies who won't sell you their products until they know you can use them right. fair enough, but it's such an easy thing to do that i think paying for training is a waste of money - unless you want to get into contouring.
for the distributors, i'm not sure about the US, but over here, all the companies sell their own online. i've seen a few for sale on ebay, but not sure if that'd be a bit dodgy if they were not the actual company.
no, don't worry about the nose filters, the undergarments. the tent is a must, as well as a few towels to put on the tent floor and the floor of which they step out from the tent, as well as some to wrap around the clients' hair. my clients come with daggy, baggy clothes to leave with, an old thong and or bra they don't care about getting brown tinges on it. you will have to tell them that if they sleep in it, their sheets might turn brown-ish from the colour guide (the colour you can see go on the client, which washes away, leaving the developed colour viewable), but that it's sugar-based and will wash off. however, i have left a piece of clothing unwashed for a week with the colour guide stain on it, and it after a week it didn't come off (so tell them to wash their clothes/sheets the next day).
own one of these systems. had it for about 6 months now, and it hasn't faltered yet. i know some have better warrantee that others, but for now, while i'm beginning something similar to these machines are great : http://www.spraytanning.com.au/index...t&ProductID=13

good luck!

Do worry about the nose filters!

Here is some information from the FDA's website:

While the FDA allows DHA to be "externally applied" for skin coloring, there are restrictions on its use. DHA should not be inhaled, ingested, or exposed to areas covered by mucous membranes including the lips, nose, and areas in and around the eye (from the top of the cheek to above the eyebrow) because the risks, if any, are unknown.

Will my eyes and the area surrounding them be protected?
Will my nose, mouth, and ears be protected?
Will I be protected from inhaling the tanning spray through my nose or mouth?
If the answer to any of these questions is "no," look for another salon. Otherwise you are putting yourself at risk for exposure to chemicals with potentially dangerous effects.
