Re: Newbie Here: Overwhelmed..What do I do first?

You know Brian, I decided to pull it because I felt like I was adding fuel to the fire. At least one person saw it....thanks. ;)

If we look at every aspect of life with modern advancement we will find things that are not exactly good for us but the real key is moderation no matter what it is. (well except for directly applying cancer and death with a spray gun)

Ban That Sticky, Nasty Crap!®[/QUOTE]

mmm I wonder what the reaction would be if statements like this were made by sunless peeps in the UV section...probably not well received I wager.

The thing is here that ignorance is a dangerous thing...both regarding UV as well as sunless tanning techniques.

Both offer an alternative to each other giving the consumer freedom of choice....both can offer a safe tan if used correctly and both have possible adverse side effects if abused.

As professionals,no matter if we are a manufacturer, educator, dealer, therapist or end user we all have a responsibility in providing a treatment within a safe environment which "does what it says on the can" with as little risk as is possible to all concerned.

Yikes guy's (and gal's) we all derive our $$$$ incomes from this sector...isn't it such a shame that more harmony cannot be found in supporting and respecting each other and the services we provide our customers....who at the end of the day come into our world and expect not only value for money but a safe and welcoming environment.

Seems that the whole UV/sunless deal is going on all over the world right now fueled by inappropriate and inaccurate media coverage.

This is a link to a non UV biased forum over here in the UK....this posting, emanating from this bad publicity was only made today

Link edited

WTF...are we all trying to destroy each other to be the one who survives.....wouldn't it be far better and more apropriate that we support each other and best protect our positions standing together side by side in quashing adverse and inaccurate media coverage which today is focused on UV exposure but rest assured in a few years will be focused on sunless(its already starting folks)

Someone already did that and sparked this conversation.

Spray manufacturers started it too. They came onto the scene and touted spray to be the "Safe Alternative" in their advertising. That was the first knife in the back of the tanning industry from a sub industry that jumped on tannings coat tails and rode it home all the while advertising that it was the "Safe Alternative" to UV tanning.

No one ever stopped them either. FDA ruling says that wee cannot promote UV as safe or advertise the benefits but there are no guidelines for spray.

Everyone started to embrace this new technology and in the meantime watched the industry take a major hit and it has never recovered from it. Now the sunscare coalition is in full force today. We don't need trunk Slammers® coming here and further bastardizing the industry with more propaganda about UV tanning, the very same industry that they ride on for profit.

Let's face it, directly spraying chemicals onto the skin is bad for you. Especially chemicals that contain mercury, lead, and arsenic. Just not a good thing.

UV is natural, DHA is not.

This is my whole point.....both means of obtaining a tanned effect are either as good or bad as each other..from the other persons perspective.

To market one against the other in a negative way is only damaging to us all and the industry within which we all drive our $$$$$.

Likewise a professional from one sector(or forum) coming onto another and ripping in is ...well erm...mmmmmm

What good is being done by folk ripping each other apart who sit on either side of the fence..the only winners will be the media who will tap into it and further bad mouth either UV or Sunless or both.

Lets face it..without either were all sprogged up and will need to get our tiny little arses down to Walmart and work on the check outs for enough money to feed our kids.

Sunless tanning.....UV tanning....waxing someones arse off or turning their hair a deep shade of purple....it realy doesnt matter but one things for sure our futures all depend on the punter wanting it and on it continuing

Re: Newbie Here: Overwhelmed..What do I do first?

I agree with Collin.

I own a mobile spray company and rely heavily on clients that use both my services and tanning beds. I myself get sprayed every week and UV tan once or twice a week(my tan needs to build off of something!). Every aspect of a business has a pro or con. As long as we educate ourselves and our clients on the proper maintenance and use, we all win. Just my two cents.
I also go to a dematologist, she loves my skin!
