Rep Power: 0 | Best spray tanning machine?? Hi, I'm trying to figure out what is better to go with a HVLP machine, LVLP machine, or a airbrush machine. I was getting airbrush tanned for the last five years and I've had good and bad experiences with it. I recently tried out HVLP and it was okay (minus the fact that the product used on me I felt was too dark for me leaving me kinda orange) I've looked on the website Envytan.com/Tampabaytans.com (they sell HVLP machines) they are expensive but they say that they are much better then airbrush equipment which can cause a lot of back spray and that means loss of product...I definitely don't want that! They also say that drying time is less then with airbrush , however I felt that it was the same for both but perhaps that was because the person who sprayed me didn't have proper control on the air/spray pressure/volume. Then I came on here and there was talk of a LVLP machine that is low volume/low pressure and its specifically met for spray tanning . I'm so confused now, I want to invest money into my business but would like to buy a quality machine that I know will work. I'm sorry so many questions but getting a legitimate answer out of anyone in my area doing spray tanning is like pulling teeth, not to mention they aren't very good at application. TIA! :) |

Not being familiar wit the U.S. market I cant comment on which type is the most popular...there must be threads on this subject somewhere. Here in the UK HVLP systems are by far the most popular, whilst air brush systems are also used they are done so by a dedicated small percentage of technicians(who to be fair absolutely love them) The LVLp machines ,whilst offering cheaper machine costs haven't for some reason taken off here. You should also consider the type of business your looking to setting up(mobile, salon based or combo) as well as the price point your looking to pitch your services at (I.E. if you have a fancy salon and are looking at charging top dollar you don't want a hoover spraying people) HTH ;0)

Collin thank you for that bit of insight...I'm pretty sure I'm going to this seminar in Ohio that is held my Sonoma tanning and they teach both applications ( spray tan with airbrush , and the HVLP system) I think after getting a feel of how both work and how comfortable I feel with application and the ease of the machine (plus like you said if I'm going to be mobile, or work in a spa/salon) I will know for sure what machine to use. |

Whilst I prefer an airbrush for personal use one cant deny that an HVLP is quicker and given time is money I guess that explains why the vast majority of commercial tanners use these systems. A HVLP is perhaps a bit more robust of a machine for slinging in the back of the mustang..or where we are the good old ford fiesta ..LOL Once you have had a go with both machines and talked things through with the seminar holders you will quickly form your own judgement. Good luck anyways ;0))

I've been sprayed by both airbrush and HVLP, I think that both have their plus's and minus's...Like you said the HVLP is quicker but with the airbrush I feel like the application is more flawless (this could also be because the person spraying me wasn't that good at application or the product used wasn't up to par) I think I will hold off purchasing any equipment until I attend this training seminar and get to use both machines...I'm just so anxious to start my business!!! lol :) |
