Rep Power: 16 | Blotchy customer, suggestions? I've heard of this happening before but I've never encountered it. I had a light-skinned (Type 1/2) customer get sprayed for the first time and I used 5% Breeze on her. She looked fabulous that evening but when she showered the next day she got extreme blotchiness on her legs and her arms lost all color. She claims to have extremely dry skin, yet I didn't think it felt that way. She wants to continue getting sprayed but would like a fix to the problem. Anyone know what I could do? I was thinking of having her exfoliate, shave and moisturize the night before coming to see me. Then I will pH balance her prior to spraying her. Has anyone encountered this and found a solution to the problem that works? Thanks! :) Oh, and her feet are still very brown so I'm thinking this is a dry skin problem but not sure how to resolve. |

I had a client that claimed she didn't have any product on, the next day her legs were white except for bikini line and feet, come to find out she had shaved her legs with Vasoline before being sprayed! I think your client had something on skin. |

Re: Blotchy customer, suggestions? I am wondering if you can/should purchase the Primer Prep spray that Versa Spa uses in the booths. It sprays them, dries them and then does the spray on tan. You could actually spray it on them with a hand spray bottle and let it dry. That Primer Prep spray is an incredible thing that has been a God send for us with problematic skin and spray tanning . It makes for a wonderful "canvas" for people with dry skin. Although I don't hand spray it makes sense for you to have the Prep on hand for these cases AND you make additional revenue AND it makes that tan extend out a few days. Just a thought.

It seems as though the exfolation they do is less than whats needed, perhaps do to the inability to reach said areas effectively. If this is the issue then offer her as ive done with similar clients a regular "bodybrushing" treatment once a month to help even out the irregular dryness and lack of skin fall off. I charge $25 for this service. Also friction and persperation will result in a faster than normal "tan fall off" that seems to be more prominent in larger cleints or "gym rats". Also if she is medicated, many meds. have dry skin as a side affect due to the body trying to rid its self of the meds. resulting in slight to moderate dehydration. Mind you im not bashing large clients... just offering a possible "fix"!! Hope this helps !!! Have a good one!!! |

Rep Power: 16 | Re: Blotchy customer, suggestions? Thanks everyone! Crystal, is the Primer Prep the same as a PH Balancer? I purchased a pH balancer I will try on her next time. She is actually what I would probably call a gym rat (haha, love that term) and in excellent shape. But she did not go to the gym (she even works at a gym) since I sprayed her so excessive sweating wasn't the issue. Besthands - what is bodybrushing? I've never heard this term but am very interested. Also interested in any treatments to moisturize skin for those not interested in spray tans . In the last month, I got 2 bed tanners (not wanting sprayed) asking if I offer any moisture treatments. I haven't had the chance to research it yet. Thanks! :) |

Rep Power: 18 | Re: Blotchy customer, suggestions? Hey Kristie !! Bodybrushing is very popular in the European countries, it involves the brushing (exfolation of the skin ) with a bundle of herbs and grasses, the bundle is about the size of a whisk broom, and is made to meet each clients needs. The far eastern cultures historically would determine your energy makeup and then balance the energies and exfoliate at the same time. Some of the herbs may include licorice, burdock, cypress, arnicia, cinnimon, and things like that. This is a nice upsale for massage therapy, in our interests its a great way to even out a poor exfolation. Its very common in the Avieda Concept Spas, always a popular menu item!!! Have a great day !! |

In some cases it can be a solution problem but these days with the development of spray tan solutions as advanced as they are now it is rarely the culprit.

Rep Power: 16 | Re: Blotchy customer, suggestions? Collin - I agree. I think the issue lies within her prep or hormones as she is the first one that has came out after 100's of tans looking like that. I have a few tricks up my sleeves for her next visit thanks to everyones great suggestions! :) Thank you all! |
