Question Tanning Tent Advice

Hello!

I am new to the board and in the process of starting a mobile airbrush tanning business. Because this will be a purely mobile business and I will not be offering services at a permanent location as of yet, I find myself obsessing over what kind of tent to purchase to bring into a clients home. I do not want to tan someone in their shower as I feel that it might lack professionalism (nothing against anyone who does this!) and I don't want to spend 10-15min cleaning up someone's shower either.

I've seen some of the pop-up tents out there and they are nice, but I'm just not sold. I am worried about not having adequate lighting inside of a black pop-up and not being able to get into the tent if I have to. I did see a small gazebo type tent with sides that was 5x5, but I can't imagine setting this thing up in someones house? lol. I may still get it for outside events etc in the spring/summer or if I do a tanning party outside.

For those of you that offer mobile airbrush , what do you use? What kind of feedback have you received on it from clients?

Any input is greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!!!

Christy =)

Question Re: Tanning Tent Advice

I just bought a tent and I was woundering what is the best way to clean it. Right now its cold here and I can't spray it down with a hose outside and some people say it is the best way. So I was woundering if anyone knew another way to clean the tent and what is the best stuff to clean it with.

Re: Tanning Tent Advice

I have a mobile airbrushing business as well. I use a 4x4x7 tent. It's very easy to pop up and fold back down and fits just about anywhere. Mine is black, but has clear windows towards the top and doesn't have a ceiling...i find this helps let more light in. Lighting can be tricky at times, but overall I don't really have many problems. Also make sure you get one that has an opening in the back for a fan. Mine doesn't have a door to it or anything which I find better since there's a larger opening.

Since it's pretty cold where I live also, I've found that wiping it down with wet towels usually does a pretty good job of cleaning. When i'm spraying, I lay a sheet or towel down on the bottom to keep the tent cleaner (its much easier to just throw those into the wash afterwards).

Be sure to get a tent with quality fabric...they can tear easily if you don't! Hope this helps:)

Thank you so much for the help. Mine is the same way has the clear windows and also has the door for the fan. The towel on the floor is a very good idea I didnt think of that. Again thank you for the help.

No problem! Also, I forgot to say that when I clean my tent with wet towels, i just use water and it seems to work just fine! I haven't tried any special cleaners since I've never had any problems - it all comes right off. (that might depend on the type of solution you use though)

Re: Tanning Tent Advice

Aviva just came out with a spray tanning backdrop. I love it wayyyy more than my pop up tent. The tent restricts light and movement so much! It's hard to spray someone inside a box...so much easier with the backdrop.
