Fake tanning help guys!! :)

Hello im new around here, and relativley new to tanning. I have been self tanning for few months now. Im currently using a self-tanning product call St Tropez Mouse bronzer.

I have a few questions so i'll shoot away.

1. After a few days as the tan starts to fade away, it becomes very patchy meaning it will tanned in some areas but completely faded in other areas. What causes this? and is there anything that i can do to avoid it.

2. whats the importance of exfoliating and mostorizing before tanning? I tend to skip this step, which may be what casues question 1.

3. Im pretty **** pale, you'd need a pear of shades just to look at me lol, so a dark self-tanner is what i need, what i have atm isnt dark enough. I have applied it 3 consecutive nights but still not satisfied. So needless to say are then any recommendations for high end self tanners that will darken well and wont make me orange? I'll be buying them off the net to as i dont have a local salon.

These all the questions i can think of for now! Seeya guys around.

any self tanner bought in a drug store is going to be of poor grade, but really, there is no salon where you are. I would definitely recommend going to the nearest salon and speak to them about getting a spray tan and/or buying salon quality products. Ordering product off the internet is about as bad as using drug store lotion. there is no garuntee how old it is or what is in it. I think it would be in your best interest to go to a salon to at least get educated about sunless tanning and be able to buy better products.

Not sure about the St. Tropez brand, but like ekc123 said, stay away from store bought.

If your want good results, especially with skin care items, go to a reputable salon.

If you are doing it at home:

1. shower and exfoliate (Exfoliate to remove the dead skin cells. Don't apply anything after shower)
2. Lay a towel on the floor
3. Put gloves on or bags over your hands
4. Apply sunless tanning cream/mousse/lotion. Apply very little and be cautious about the ankles, feet, elbows, and knees. These are typically dry areas of the skin and dry skin will grab the solution in an ugly way.

Don't apply too much. Remember, you can always put more on but you can't take it off. Your tan will only get so dark, so if you over apply, it will not look natural or fade nicely.

After you have had your first shower:

1. Moisturize twice daily.
2. Stay away from things that are abrasive to your skin.
3. Each time you shave, you will remove some color (It is a form exfoliating-but it will not remove it all)
4. Last but not least, the more you take care of it the better it will look and the longer it will last.

Hey guys thank you so much! i think i just learnt so much more by reading those posts!

I stopped using all drug store tanners. There just terrible! St tropez seems to be the best i have had yet but its just too light!

I just asked my mother last night and she said that there is actually a tanning salon in the next town 30 minutes away which is good news.

Ok thanks for the help guys!
