Solutions that work work well on fair skin!!

hello everybody~ i'm in the process of opening a mobile airbrush business (although i'm offering the option of spraying out of my house, too), and i've tried southseas and a customized solution from the girl who trained me in california. i have very fair skin (and so do a lot of people i know) and am having a difficult time finding a solution that doesn't look orange. i figure if it can look natural and brown on me, then it will look good on anybody!! i have also ordered a sample of "all about me" because i've read such great reviews about it on tantalk.

can anybody offer any insight into this?? also, any suggestions for spraying the hands and feet? i used vaseline on two girls the other night, and that seemed to help. i only wiped it off the cuticles and nails but left it on the other areas~ is that right??

any help would be greatly appreciated!!:icon_confused::icon_

i think Aviva Labs works VERY well on just about everyone, especially fair skin.

thank you so much! i just ordered a 4oz of their lightest shade. in your experience, do the solutions with a lower dha give fair skin a good, brown color~ or is it still a little orange?

also, have you ever tried southseas, all about me, norvell or su-do? just curious how you would compare aviva to those?

Skin looks orange when you use a solution too dark for your skin or if too much solution is used. Prep helps too. We use a exfoliatiing spray so we know the skin is prepped properly.

so would you say a 7.5%-8% dha would be about right? have you been successful tanning very fair clients with lower dha%? do they get a "brown" color v. orange? also, even with a lower dha, do you still spray twice?

thank you!!!

Hi Lee Ann,

I'm very fair skinned myself and recently tried South Seas (I also purchased their machine as I'm starting my own mobile tanning business too). I've done a lot of spray tanning and South Seas was the only one so far that I feel didn't come out too dark/orange. I nearly bought the Infinity Sun machine but the lightest tan came out very dark on me. People said it looked good but being soooo fair skinned, I just wanted a glow. I've also tried many of the booth sprays and have found Cal Tan to be the best thus far as far as achieving that glow look. I haven't tried a lot of the solutions on here. Did you spray someone with Southseas or did they spray you? I was sprayed by Kelly who is the rep from southseas and it came out great. The week prior I'd tried the Infinity Sun.

I think it's all going to be personal preference. Solutions like Infinity Sun I felt can achieve that deep dark tan look maybe for people who already have a tan complexion but just came across as a Playboy style fake tan on me which is NOT the look I'm going for...so that's why I ended up choosing Southseas. I think it all depends on personal style and the technician spraying it.

Solutions are a personal preference. 8% solutions usually work for fair skin. I always spray twice.

My thoughts are this (I'm new to the spraying game, but not to the industry)
8% on fair skinned clients for a glow (2 light coats)
10% for average skin tones or those with a base tan again 2 light coats
12% for those with dark skin, I personally think it looks abnormal but hey they are the client.

I will probably choose 8/10 and get some drops to make higher.
