Rep Power: 0 | How to tell if an Exfoliant is water or oil based? (words to look for) I was told by the rep for the product I am using to make sure the client exfoliates with a water based product, (prefer their product) but still if at home a water based item not oil based. What are the keywords that we need to look for on a bottle, or is there a list somewhere of the most used store bought type products as to what is ok or not ok to use before sunless tanning? I had my sister in law bring me her bottle she uses and I was lost after about the 3rd line as to what everything in there even IS much less if it was an oil or not, so any help on that or what to look for is appreciated. Also on the moisturizers (again recommended by rep to use their products), but some are stuck on their own choices etc, but after the tan is applied / sets in and they shower up later, are there any things we should confirm a moisturizer has or doesnt have that might affect the way the tan fades? Thanks for the input. Bill :)

Water will be the first, second of third on the list. WHAT you need to look for is MINERAL OIL. That's what I think they want you to avoid. That ing should not be in the list of ing AT ALL. NO WHERE. The sad thing is Mineral Oil is starting to creep into salon quality products (caltan I'm looking in your cheap *** direction) |

It is almost impossible to find a good exfoliant that isn't oil based. I am assuming a pre tan exfoliation is what you are talking about. For obvious reasons you wouldn't want any oils getting in the way of the solution absorbing/ or forming a barrier. Your best bet is to tell your clients to use regular household baking soda and a washcloth. The baking soda forms a paste, and is a gentle yet effective exfoliator . Most people have it on hand,it is cheap, and safe/natural product. |
