Beading Problem, Help!

I am new to the airbrushing business. I am in the process of practicing on all of my friends and family before I even think of charging:) Anyway, I am having trouble with beading. Is it because I am going to slow? Do I need to adjust my airflow or does that only affect the width of the spray pattern? Any suggestions would be much appreciated:)
I am the maximist hvlp tanning system.

Re: Beading Problem, Help!

Measure out your solution use, beading is caused by too much solution on too small of an area, cut back on solution knob, increase pressure if using a compressor rig, and move faster when spraying. Hope you get it working !!!

They recommend 1 1/2 - 2 turns on the pressure knob, which I have found to be way too much. What do you set it at? And if I'm not mistaken there is no solution flow knob, right?
Thanks for your help,
Leah

Re: Beading Problem, Help!

1 1/2 turns is way too much 1st time I did that it was beading & running. I barley get it a half turn.. Its better to start it less then u can turn it up alil more... also if u get a spot with alittle too much.. i jus instantly pull the solution part off hold in my hand & use the hose part to dry the spot.. it was great doesnt run & ends up blending in... ;)

/\ all those are very good answer, also consider using a prep spray to remove any film left on the skin just in case skin is not completely clean , just as an extra step.

Re: Beading Problem, Help!

I have the maximist hvlp and 1 1/2 turns was WAYYY too much. I only have mine turned about 1/2 turn, maybe a little less and it sprays very evenly now. LOVE IT!

Re: Beading Problem, Help!

Are your subjects exfoliating properly before you spray them? I agree with the prep gel suggestion. It is better to use the right spray setting. Shower, exfoliate, no antiperspirant, no cologne or perfume , prep and spray.
