Safety measures for Mobile Spray Tanners - tanTALK

I was wondering what kind of safety measures mobile spray tanners are taking, to ensure they are safe, going into strangers homes. Any suggestions would be helpful.

I get all of their info first. Full name address and phone number and try to get their email as well. That way I can look up their info and see if it all is jiving. You can also look up their name or email on myspace and see their pic... just so you have an idea of who you are dealing with. I no longer do men, it is just too risky. (I get a lot from craigslist that are way creepy) I do have an empty condo where I bring a friend or two with me and I will do men there if I get a good feeling about them and their intentions (but still risky)it is in a neutral setting though. Walking into a guys house and it just being him and I... too scary for me. Although most of them have the best of intentions the $35 dollars I could make is not worth something happening to me.

I always give my husband the names, addresses, and times of my appointments for the day, and on new clients call him when I go in and call when I get out.

There is a risk with a mobile business, I just try to get to know as much about a person as possible before I enter their home.

I just "hired" a guy to do men's sprays. Im splitting with him 60/40. He does a good job and he might be *** (no one knows for sure) so the girls let him spray them, too. I am getting ready to purchase another gun and hopefully we'll both keep busy.

I've always ran my business as referral only doing very little advertising and relying on my network. If I do get a call from a seedy part of town or I just don't feel comfortable I refer them to one of the salons that I have trained.

Screening your customer over the phone is important - over time your intuition will steer you right.
I'm pretty comfortable with outcalls as I've done massage for 12 years with half of it being outcalls to private homes, resorts and hotels - after a while you get a good feel about things.
However, if I was a woman, I would probably not feel too comfortable going over to a man's house alone. Back when I had a mobile massage business with my partner, i would always escort her to appointments and set up/break down - just to let the client know someone's nearby.
Also, it doesn't hurt to know some martial arts

and/or bring a friend or let someone know where you're going, etc.

i had a man (im 22 and he 30) ask for a picture and a detailed explanation of waxing his entire body (im an esthetician and offer in home waxing as well) and he asked for a full body massage KNOWING im educated for "back facials" (includes massage) but he wanted it all and then asked for full details and asked if he is on his belly the entire time..ewww......no service for him!

Yes I do, within my county... I charge according to how far I have to travel. I charge up to $65 for areas outside my travel area. Why what do you charge? That is how I work my pricing- by location and my travel mileage/costs.
