Question Have my equipment - which solution should I try?

I have all my airbrush equipment already - iwata compressor, silentaire compressor, 12 iwata hp bcs guns, (I do temporary tattoos for events and parties).

From day 1 I have been asked over and over do I do airbrush tanning, wife especially wants me to get into it.

So I figure I will get a gun specifically for airbrush use (vs the ink use of my other 12 guns) and will just use one of my compressors here.

I want to eventually find the right product ( solution ) practice on my wife and a few friends who have also asked and shown interest then eventually offer the service to others.

The hard part is finding what product to use! I have no experience with them and am not even sure where to start, I had a 4oz sample of a product called bahama body and did my wifes arm with it VERY light coat (in case it turned orange on her) no problems but the end result after showering 8 hrs later was not much different than her other arm that wasn't sprayed, might have just been because i put it on so thin coat wise I dunno, tried a second coat tonight will have her shower that off in the am to see if there is a difference.

But am hoping to get some input on what others have tried or are currently using and or any tips you may have for me on what gun to buy for tanning application use (can i just use one of my iwata hp bcs guns)?

Bill :)

Re: Have my equipment - which solution should I try?

The second light coat of bahama body I did before she went to bed after she showered (8 hrs after first light coat) gave better results. We could see she was darker but the pics aren't the greatest (looks better in person).

I am curious tho are all solutions an 8 hr process (where you apply then 8 hrs later need to shower off).

Which other products do you all recommend I try with my airbrush setup that gives good results on most skin types?

Bill :)

Doing a search on here will get ya lots of info on other solutions. :)

From my understanding all solutions require a specific amount of time before showering. I tell my evening sprays to wait until the next day before showering.

Most are usually 6-8 hours. I always say longer the better. I would try quite a few different solutions. Once you have them to compare you will have a better idea of what will work better for you and you future clients.Look over some of the threads and see what people have to say about their experiences with dif solutions. Pick some form there and go to town! Good luck.

Re: Have my equipment - which solution should I try?

So far I have read about Norvell, Bahama Body, Totally Tan and one called swoosh 11.

I have tried Bahama Body and have some totally tan coming, wrote to a rep about norvell and swoosh11 I cant even find any contact info on their website (too weird) unless I am missing it? http://swooshsunless.com .

I just know these things are expensive (the bahama body is aprox $150 a gallon) so I am hoping to read about experiences here to save me hundreds of $$ in experiments and hopefully to not turn anyone orange in the process as well :)

Thanks for the input i will be reading around more for sure,

Bill :)

Re: Have my equipment - which solution should I try?

I just switched from Breeze to a more premium, spa grade solution by body bronze products... and love it! Just wanted to throw that out there since it has never been mentioned on this forum that I know of. I have tried a lot of solutions, and this one has given me the best results. It is trial and error, eyecandy is right... this forum is full of info on solutions! I would say that everyone could narrow it to 5 top ones...Breeze, Aviva Labs, Norvell, Infinity Sun's brand (have to have their system), and Fantasy Tan's brand (also have to have their system). I came across mine by a stroke of luck, not even sure if it has made it to their website yet. Last time I checked it wasn't but maybe in the near future...http://bodybronzeproducts.com. Hope this helps!

Tahitian Tea is by Pure Sunless - you can get it on their website, but you have to have a cosmetology license (it says).

Re: Have my equipment - which solution should I try?

another thing to consider when you are shopping for bronzing solutions & testing various colors, is how much you can charge clients versus how much you are paying for solution . color is important. probably the most imo. but face it, we are in business to make money and at the end of the day, oz per pounds has to be considered. i use spraytans international. beautiful brown toned. no orange here... the skin is super smooth afterward. always remember the quality of the tan also has to do with the skin condition of the client, the dedication of how the client preps it before they arrive for their application, and, how well the client is willing to maintain it. im not assuming you already don't know this... i just saw you on this posting thats all .. i have alot more to read and not enough time to get through the posts today! -- best regards
