Rep Power: 17 | Can hormone flucuations affect tan? Hey guys.. tell me what you think about this. I had a good client that tanned with me almost every week for about a year. She got pregnant and I didn't see her for awhile. She had her baby 3 weeks ago. I tanned her last week and she bought a package of 10 like she had in the past. She called back and talked to the receptionist and told her she wanted a refund because her tan turned out "crazy". She said the color was not right and it was splotchy. She suggested that it may have something to do with her hormones and that she wanted a refund and that she'll try back in a few months when she's back to normal. What do ya'll think? She had given birth 2 weeks prior to tan. Same solution and technique as before. Could the hormone flucuations affect the tan? I have no problem refunded for the 9 tans has not used. I just want to get to the bottom of the problems. |

Maybe you could just offer to put them on hold. I know people get melasma (mask of pregnancy) sometimes... maybe it has nothing to do with her spray.

I am betting that she was in a pattern of exfoliating and such when she came in weekly. Now she fell out of that pattern during pregnancy but used the same technique she had been using in the past. But after going so long it was not enough and the layers of dead skin had built up. I am betting she needs to exfoliate REALLY well. Maybe even two days in a row, but light on the second. Its like washing a car every week. Then going through winter without a wash. After all the salt and dust the car may need a couple washes to really get the stuff off.

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Can hormone flucuations affect tan? Absolutely - womens hormones can fluctuate all over the place (that's a technical term, lol) during the month - pregnant or not. Unless it was an exfoliation issue, i think that's what happened here. Are you using a Ph balancer/ exfoliator prior to tanning? For walk-ins I use a product called SluffWipes and they are great at balancing a woman's Ph.

Rep Power: 16 | Re: Can hormone flucuations affect tan? unity, as an esthetician you should not over exfoliate! that can throw off ph balance even worse! Its bc she had a baby. I continue to tan while being pregnant and have to use some major ph products and take as many baths to get it off quicker, bc the blotchynes will start to show. |
