you cannot find a single post on this site where a salon owner has said a burn is good for you. that is the reason you go to a professional salon for guidance. just like there are good dr.'s you'll find dr.'s on crack to.... use your best judgement and pick a salon that is reputable and cares about their clients to get a HEALTHY tan in moderation. :)

Re: New Concept here... airbrush tanning

I have personally NEVER burned in a salon. I've even gone to the beach with a good base tan from a salon and burned because miss smartypants here thought she could slather on the super Maui Babe and not have to worry about a burning, lol. Whoops. Now I know to rent a cabana at the beach and only sit out a couple of hours in the sun, base or no base. But once that all scaled off, back I went to the salon again and no burn :)

Hello, Kettle? This is Pot. What are you doing for lunch you silly, ridiculous, black piece of cookware?" hehe Take it easy with the hypocrisy, ok? First off, your PhD associate has been brainwashed. Second, you are misinformed and technically brainwashed by association. You jumped right into this thread talking about all of the women you know personally in Fl. that have problems with the sun, pumped up the spray tanning alternative (which has its place in indoor tanning businesses IMO), and went directly into your credentials (people you know who tell you stuff - that makes you even less credible) to justify your blatant misgivings about indoor tanning.

You know, coming from Florida (or at least living there for however long), you of all people should be able to recognize the fact that many people that live in and visit the sunshine state misuse and abuse the SUN that you get naturally. Do you think that might have something to do with all of the problems that all of the women you KNOW have? To make general statements about UV tanning the way you have, and especially indoor tanning at a professional salon is naive - and counterproductive to the goals of this site and its members.

If you have something PRODUCTIVE to add about tanning - spraytanning or otherwise, then by all means, feel free to share. If however, you would just rather have circular arguments about BS, then by all means, start a thread in the Say What forum and we'll join you. Save this DRIVEL for the Slate responses, though. Ok?
Thanks! -Belvy

botox is NOT used for wrinkles created from sun damage

botox is used for wrinkles caused by repetitive facial muscular movement which causes ridges/wrinkles in the skin.

chemical peels and laser resurfacing is used for sun damage

check with your family of clinicians....or the dermatologist you use

Re: New Concept here... airbrush tanning

To the person who says that people don't burn in tanning beds, that is a crock. As a salon owner, people do burn in tanning beds on occasion. We see Type II tanners who think that after a week, they can go the max in a bed, and then after we argue with them and compromise with them at 1 or 2 minutes less than the max, they burn. Some people also lie about their skin type so they can burn, then tan. I agree with doing everything in moderation from tanning to drinking to slathering up with SPF lotion. The most annoying thing these days is that almost all makeup foundation has SPF lotion in it. Back to the topic about introducing airbrush tanning to your community - it's been so popular since the E! TV show "Sunset Tan" it is un-believable. Our salon's name was Custom Tanning before the show and no one understood what custom tanning was until after the show and our airbrush tanning business is now about 50% of our business with the beds being the other 50%. My cousin lives in a town of 2,000 people and when I visited this summer, someone in that town does airbrush tanning. Take advantage of the industry while it is in its high point.

I for one just love it and can't understand why more people would not want to do it given the large publicity of harmful UV rays lately. Thanks!
We have found that the Air brush tanning is very popular if marketed correctly. It is great for the person(s) who do not tan but do not want to be the glowing white one in the wedding pictures. We do wedding packages and if the bride or groom brings in 3 paid spary tans we spray them for free. I would say spray tans make up approximately 10% of our total tans. Hope this helped
