Watch out for nut allergies

Hi all! Just wanted to let everyone know to NOT spray clients with nut allergies. I know Fantasy Tan has nut oils especially in their Chocolate and Sunset formulations and I'm sure other brands might too. Just be sure to check the ingredients and ask each client before you spray, otherwise the end result could be disastrous!

We just have someone call about this and there are some that do not contain nut oils out there. You are right that could be a big disaster!

Do you know which solutions do not contain nut oils? I know some people are allergic to walnut, which is common in many solutions.

I am not sure, you will have to check with your DHA supplier and ask them for a list of ingredients. If you spray someone with nut allergies and they have a reacation, it can cause their throat to close up.

Many solutions either contain nut extract and or possible ingredients that may cause an adverse reaction to certain individuals...not the nicest experience for either the therapist to see or the customer to go through.

In extreme cases of adverse reactions the customer could well wind up in hospital.

Here in the UK we advise all therapists to undertake a "patch test" to all new customers or if switching solution .

This patch test is ideally taken 24 hrs prior to treatment however up to half an hr before is adequate.

Simply dip an ear bud in solution and dab behind the ear...if an adverse reaction is to occur this wont take long to show its ugly face..the first signs are redness..prickly heat spots and irritation.

This safety procedure only takes a moment and demonstrates a professional approach to the job at hand and shows your customer that you have their best interests in mind.

Re: Watch out for nut allergies

wowsers!

Thanks so much for this informative post!

I am allergic/sensitive to nuts (checking all my solutions ingredients now), and luckily havent had any adverse reactions.

I also plan on adding "Do you have any nut allergies?" to my client information sheets.

Yes we have had a few requests to put nut oils in our formulas to which we have declined due to this problem.
The only nuts we have in our plant are the ones are the two legged kind (like me!)
LOL
