Question How to compensate multiply sprayers?

Hello everyone! Okay I have almost completed my business plan but am stuck on how to pay my sprayers while having my company make money! I have 3 cousins who want to spray but it will be my equipment - does a 50/50 split seem fair? Does anyone have a better suggestion?

Quite a conundrum there. Labor is easy to replace. Go 30-70 and live the good life. It's not like cousins are immediate family or anything! Good luck. Not really.

Re: How to compensate multiply sprayers?

50/50? Did they pay for half of the equipment? Nope. Do they pay for half the solution ? Nope. So why should they get 50 percent? In the end you will be lucky to make 30% after their cut.

They may be doing the labor, but the cut for them should be smaller and explaining it to them that way should make sense. Tell them they are making 50% of the profit on each session maybe.

Two notes:
The clients book with you and you tell them the price. Let the client know that IF they change their mind from doing full to just upper, etc. that they should let you know. I've seen it in my salon (before I owned it) that a client would book full but the tech said they changed their mind. The tech would do a full but pocket the difference.

Also, as I tell many, spray tanning is not something everyone is cut out for. Its like an art and no matter how well trained some just can not do it well. Your tech represent you, if they dont do a good job YOUR company is not doing a good job.

Good luck!

I pay my girls 35% of their weekly gross. Pay bi-weekly. They keep their tips obviously.
Past 4 days each of the girls has had 10-14 sprays a day.

With tips each of them has made atleast $200/day.

They make out pretty good. I even pay for their gas because of the perimeter we spray.

Unity makes some very good points too.. They don't book nor pay for the equip.. If you spray let's say 6 people a day and it takes up..oh 5hrs of their day. At 35%-40% depending on your price.. They're still making at least $100+ for 5hrs?!?!?

Won't they have the opportunity to make tips? That will add $$ to their pocket.

Re: How to compensate multiply sprayers?

50% is way too high to give them. We currently pay $5.00 commission per spray (we only charge $25.00 per spray) We also pay an extra $5.00 if the tech gets them to schedule and pay for thier next spray. The only way we pay more is if the tech buys her own solution . Then they can schedule the spray tan for when they (The tech) is working again. This way tehy can make $10.00 per spray.

I can't believe that you guys think 50% is too high ! That seems fair to me. I work in a salon and make 60% commission. I buy my own product. I also receive a 10% commision on product that I sell. 50% split is on the low end of standard for the salon industry in my area. Most people do a sliding scale where the more your total sales the higher your commision is. Some going as high as paying out 70%. People here would not work for 35%..not even if they were brand new.

There are always exceptions.

Is this a mobile service, ie, you're sending these units out to different locations to provide the service - or, do you own a salon and people will just be walking in randomly to get sprayed? Well, either way, 50% sounds fair to me.

You also pay for your product.. as well as you're in a salon..

My business is 100% mobile and I believe Kat Moore's is as well.
