Introduction

Hello All,

I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Stephanie and I am a professional makeup artist and I am adding ABT to my airbrushing services. I have lived in rural Minnesota for the last 2 years and can't do as much makeup here so I think ABT is a great option and my clients have really been asking about it. I really like this forum and I have learned a lot just from reading here. I'm sure I'll have tons of ameturish questions for you all. But hey...you all can ask me any makeup question you want!

Re: Introduction

Think it out before you start doing ABT. You may lose make up business because the spray tan last much longer. Then again, you may gain a much larger client base.

Re: Introduction

Kinda reminds me of that movie, Bachelor Party - "the Porsche, or Debbie ... the Porsche, Debbie ...". Personally, I would have opted for the Porsche ... then you get Debbie, and Danni, and Demi, and Donna ... the list goes on. But I digress. Just grip it and rip it, babe! What have you got to lose? Hope this helps. -Belvy

Re: Introduction

Ask any questions you have. Just keep in mind some people do not like spray tanning so thier responses may not always be helpful. Everyone in entitled to thier opinions and you will quickly figure out where people stand on the subjest of sunless

How long does it take to do airbush makeup? Offering both sound like a perfect fit to me.

Re: Introduction

Airbrush makeup is very quick. It really depends on what you're doing it for though. I can do a face in under a minute easy...sometimes 15-30 seconds. For something like a TV show shot in HD you can't use that much makeup and there needs to be a lot of transparency so the coverage is very light and it goes quickly...a bride might take a little longer....if I am doing body work or tattoo cover it obviously takes more time but the airbrush is so fast for makeup application and the products are great.

And just to clarify I don't think I'd lose clients because the AB tan lasts longer. I don't do airbrush makeup to make someone look tan unless it's for a shoot or tv or something and then it's suppesed to be temporary. It's more like an overlap in the skill set and I have clients who would like the service.

I moved to a very rural area in Minnesota from Denver so to do my media makeup work I really have to travel to a big city...there's no one here doing anything like this (ABT) at all. It's all about adapting to the situation...plus ABT is the bomb and I think the market overall is only going to grow.

Thank you for the warm welcome!

Lame questions from me to follow soon I'm sure...

Hi jenn! I'm amazed at some of the "help" i see here! I've asked questions and usually gotten some very good replies. However, i have to agree that not everyone see's sunless as an option... too bad! It's just another great service many of my clients have come to enjoy!!! Have a great day!!!

Re: Introduction

Hi Steph,
I, too, had to adapt. I owned a spa in NC, then my husband got transferred to a small town in AL. I sold my spa, but want to stay in the business and think mobile tanning parties might just work for me! I'm still in the beginning stages of getting the word out. I have 3 appt's next week and hope this starts the ball rolling! I'm passing out business cards and postcards everywhere I can think of.
