Parabens are bad?

I've been reading a lot of solutions are "paraben free" which seems to be a good marketing technique, but it didn't mean anything to me, since I didn't know parabens are/were considered bad for you. Just wanted to share. I was curious, so I got online and read that paraben have been said to mimic estrogen, which can elevate the chances of breast cancer. That's the main problem that has been found in lab animals that have been tested, but either way...just thought I'd share what I just learned. I didn't do research on the other side of the argument, but seems if it's controversial, I'd prefer to air of the side of caution. Now I'm going to go check the rest of my products, since it's been said to be used as a preservative in many cosmetics, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioners, and even food products. Yikes.

Its nice to see your doing your own research, that means you are truely interested in offering the best service to your clients! Not just looking for a get rich quick hobby.
Way cool!
Consider looking into one of the more "organic" lines, i realize none are totally organic, but there are some really "clean" solutions available. Your going to be very sucessful i predict!!! :)

Re: Parabens are bad?

Overblown hype. This causes cancer as much as deep breathing causes lung failure.

Re: Parabens are bad?

Yes Parabens are a natural product but without it your tans will last longer (As well as a million other factors!)
To be honest its just a great marketing ploy but i do stay paraben free myself that way my customers come and buy off me instead of buying detergant based (SLS) junk from the supermarket :)

Re: Parabens are bad?

The concern is the amount of breast cancer victums that have large amounts of parabens in their breast tissue.

Re: Parabens are bad?

Parabens are found in soo many products, however there is never more than 2% in a product. It becomes harmful ("carcenogenic") when we use multiple products with parabens. Such as, body wash, exfoliators, lotions, creams, perfumes, etc. It becomes a layering effect.. But now a days everything is 'bad' for you..

Re: Parabens are bad?

again, if everything that people claimed caused cancer we'd be extinct by now. Instead the world is OVERpopulated.

Conclusion, use what works the best for you and forget the hype.
