we already have a processor for the salon so I will probably just use them but I need the seperate machine to use for outside the salon.

Here's an idea for a temp solution . If you already have a CC processor call in the cc number to whoever is working at the store and have them get approval that way. When you get the approval code use a handwritten receipt and have them sign that copy.

Do that until you see if it's a handheld cc reader is reall necessary.

Aimeeket my only worry was if it was a party or spray that was happening after the salon was closed. but otherwise that would work well.

Yeah, if you already have a machine at the salon I'd try to use that. If the salon was closed, couldn't you just take the machine with you?? =)
Or, have anyone who doesn't have cash/check to buy the product either pay in advance or have them come by the salon afterwards to get the product.

I have people use PayPal. You can invoice them or I a place to purchase tans & lotions on my website. If they don't have internet at home, then nevermind. But I just have them use PayPal. On a $27.95 purchase, they charged me like $1.10. No biggie. But Blondie has a good set up so if you decide to go the credit card machine, give her rep a call!

I use a wireless device via my phone (bluetooth). It is small and works perfectly. I received it free from Capital One - that is where I have my biz bank account. They offer merchant services. I use my mobile credit card machine on mobile tans and in the salon. They charge a small percentage on each transaction.

You have to have a smart-phone that works with the device. There is a LONG list of compatible phones.

I thought about using Paypal as well. Most people have computers at the houses where I'll be spraying. They could just pay at the party. I could also take my own lap top and use a wireless card so that I can have internet anywhere. Only concern...I have Paypal, but not sure the vast majority does.
I think the wireless credit card machines are more professional, but I've got to get my business started before purchasing one.
