Mobile start-up

I own a tanning salon and am looking at expanding into the modile sunless side of things.

I currently do not have a sunless spray unit

What do you suggest starting with, equipment, solutions, companys to go with etc...

I would like to know what works and what doesn't for most of you.

I am actaully on the wedding expo board in my area so I have the market, no one around does anything like this.

If someone would be willing to help me with what I need to do to get the mobile side of things rolling that would be awesome!

Thanks a Bunch

Re: Mobile start-up

I can't give you much advice except to tell you I was in your position a few weeks ago. We decided to go airbrush because we didn't have the $$ for a booth plus we wanted to go mobile. This week was our practice week, next week is $$. We hope it does well.

Re: Mobile start-up

There is a lot to look into. If you're only going to be mobile I would first check the weight of the equipment and portability. Ours is light but too large to fit into the trunk of a car. Think about if you have to take the unit up a flight of steps. Make sure you get insurance and notify your auto insurance you'll be using your vehicle for work. Think about a second less expensive system for backup. Will you have anybody else in case an emergency comes up and you can't fulfill and appointment. These are just some of the many things you will need to look at. Next there is ease of use of the system you choose...ours is simple. There is the solutions you can use and then if you find a solution you love will that company only sell to you if you use their system. What is the warranty and support you will have on the system. Do you think the system you choose will be difficult to learn and will you need on site training. We didn't with ours but many systems out there you may need help with. This should get you started. :)

Re: Mobile start-up

I used a mini-HVLP system and a pop-up tent. I purchased a small suit case with wheels (and a pull-up handle). My system fits in there perfect, as well as solution , resale products, hair-nets, sluff wipes, etc. Definately invest in a small, rolling suitcase. It makes everything easier. The tent doesn't fit inside -- of course. It has worked perfectly.

www.solebella.com for more details on mobile tanning (pricing, website ideas, etc).

Re: Mobile start-up

www.solebella.com has a nice looking tent. So does sonomatanning.com. I got mine & love it because it's not black at chief-tan.com it's blue & no, it doesn't turn brown from build up. I still wipe mine down every once in a while though.

Go to ebay to look for your machine. They usually ship directly from the manufacturer. I found a mini-mist from Apollo for $200 from Tampa Bay Tan. I am going to get that one for back up.

I use turbo tan...I have used the infinity sun system and LOVED it, but was not sure my spray would pick up enough to warrent the expense. If my sprays continue to be as busy as they are, I will be trading in my turbo tan machine. Turbo tan is a great system for you to test the waters with. Inexpensive but yet works very well.

If you are handy, you can build your own spray system for super cheap. I am pretty sure there are directions on this site somewhere....if not, let me know and I have some. I was too lazy to build my own.

I was thinking about trying the TurboTan. Do you know how it compares to the Apollo mini mist?

I would recommend staying with Apollo products.

Re: Mobile start-up

Also, $200 for a mini mist is a good price.
