Tanning Parties

I have been doing the mobile spray tanning & have found that everyone wants to have a spray tanning party. So I am hosting my own first tanning party for starters. I have 15 - 20 people confirmed to come & from there I hope to book future parties.

I need some suggestions as to what types of things other people that have experience do at these parties. I have helpers. In a private room, I have one female assistant to assist me in prepping the guests while I do the spraying. I have someone that greets the guests as they come in & will know most of the people, she will sign them in and have them sign the waivers, etc.

After they get their tan, I have someone that will hand them after care instructions, see if someone is interested in hosting their own party, & to sell my tan extenders & lotions.

I need suggestions as to what I can do to make it fun!! What do you do?

Re: Tanning Parties

If they are of age, bring a couple bottles of wine/or champagne and a fruit tray.....since you have 15-20 people, it is worth it to spend a little bit to make them feel extra pampered. I have just recently started bringing jewelry cleaners, they all have fun making their jewels sparkle as they wait to be tanned.

Everyone is of age & I plan to have the appetizers & some wine & cheese & punch. I like the idea of them having something like that to do.

I thought about doing give aways. . . .. . any suggestions? Every other kind of home party I have been do has drawings. I have small samples of on eof my tan extenders. Should I give away a free tan (I charge $50 for a mobile tan)? Or should I give away product? Eh . .. . what to do, what to do. . .

Re: Tanning Parties

Make it attractive for others to have parties. Free tan for hostess. Raffle coupons good for free tan, free face spray, free leg spray. Make a package of items you retail...exfoliating wash/scrub, aerosol & tan extender.Gives you a chance while listing items for raffle to do a sales pitch on the items. To be sure everyone who attends has prepped their skin (an unlikely event) have something like an exfoliating spray (there are other such items that do the same) to be sure their skin is prepped for spray.
Just some thoughts.

Re: Tanning Parties

I wouldn't stress too much about entertaining everyone. At most of my parties, the people spend the entire time talking and checking out each other's tan lines. I would agree that some snacks and food are necessary, but that's about it. Background music is a good idea too.
You'll do great! =)

Re: Tanning Parties

Thank you everyone. I'll let you know how it goes. I just feel like it will be so disorganized. I go to Pampered Chef parties, candle parties, etc. & there is a presentation, & planned way of doing things!! I'm sure it will be fine.

I felt like that before my first party too. I was so nervous about how it would all go! After you have one under your belt though, you'll know what you do and don't want to do next time. Also, be confident and people will assume you've done it all before. =)

Re: Tanning Parties

I was thinking of having one at my salon. Did you advertise for it? I was also worreid about being able to handle so many sprays. Would it be best for me to set a time in the evening? I close the salon at 8pm. So I guess I could feasibly do 8-10pm? Or has your experience been that it is better to do on a Sunday/Saturday? I close at 5 on weekends. Sounds like a lot of fun and I really want to do it. Any advice would help. I was told I couldn't metion alcohol being at the party due to the liquor control board busting the businesses in town for serving it. I think I'd like to offer tattoos as well, dont' know much about the sparkle stuff though, not quite sure how the body sparkle really works. Guess I would need to have customers respond and RSVP? Sorry for the many questions, but I'm excited about it all. Thanks!

Re: Tanning Parties

Saturdays and Sundays do seem to work best! I would have customers RSVP. Or allow people to host their own tan party (with their own guests) at your salon after hours. That might work better, and has the potential to bring in new clients!
