Re: Tanning Parties
hi blondie, how successful was your first party? im new to this. ive done alot of my research. ive a "ladies night out" for a large group of church gals, so i have an idea about parties. we just moved from our home in corona last december and relocated to the midwest. its taken some getting used (the cold & snow, tornados, etc.) I left my job w/la times after 6 years for this move. with three kids, it just doesnt pay to work out of the house so i had to do some market research and industry investigation. im still learning. ive had my equip. 3 weeks. got the spraytans g2 laser tan unit.
well im getting away from my question. i havent hosted my own party yet. how did you advertise and get the word out? im thinking of setting up an E-vite system for clients/hostesses so i can get before/after care info to their guests & keep track of replies/rsvp's

Re: Tanning Parties
Evite is a great tool. I email my hostess with the before/after care info prior to the party. She can then pass that info on to her guests however she chooses. I also have postcard invites that my host can mail out if they choose to. One side has the party info (time/date/location/etc.) and the other has the "how to prepare for your tan".
I have used Myspace extensively to market to local people (you can actually search for people within so many miles of your zip code). I also sent out letters to strip clubs (strippers need to be tan!) and contacted a lot of local pageants. Other than that, it's been word of mouth, repeat clients from parties, and people I already know. |

I've also given coupons to all the local bridal shops, but I have yet to receive any business from them. I'm also advertising in the high school newspaper, but haven't seen any direct business from that either.

Re: Tanning Parties
I am excited to begin my mobile business also. I have the Cal Tan mobile bronzer unit and am ready to go. I am doing my first party in a few weeks at my house. I have a woman coming to do a jewelry party from Premire Jewelry and i'm going to spray everyone who comes. I also hired my babysitter to come over and watch any children that might end up coming, I wouldn't want someone not to come due to childcare so hopefully more can attend.
I like the idea of Evite invites because you can put the prep your skin before on the evite. On to my questions any ideas on how much inventory of tan extender I should have on hand incase people want to purchase some? Besides tan extender what other products should I have to offer to clients? Thanks, Abigail |

Re: Tanning Parties
Hey Blondie! My party was awesome. Even though only 5 people showed up, I made $160. It was my first party so I only charged $15. Future parties I plan to charge $25. I now have new clients just from that one party. It's nice! I sold product also.
I was thinking about what aeganje said about having a Jewelry party at the same time. He's some thought on that because I have had several people ask me to sell their product at my party. I don't think it's a good idea because people come to a party and maybe only have so much money that they can spend. Let them spend their money on your product, not someone elses. I have 2 tan extenders & one just plain yummy moisturization lotion. I sold everyone 1 product after their tan. Just a thought! Maybe you could hold a Jewelry party seperate for her & she can hold a tanning party at her place for you. |

sonya
the results of your party are very inspiring to me since I am starting to branch out from my tanning salon and starting to do mobile spray tanning! I'm glad you had a successful party and hope you have many more to follow! |
