I have just recently started airbrush tanning and work at a salon and day spa. Half of my clients add on this service while already there so I instruct them to use exfoliating wipes thoroughly but always no matter what solution I use, the client gets a discoloration underneath thier under arms from thier deodorant < --I'm guessing) sometimes its just a lighter shade of the tan and others.. it can actually be a green color... has any one experienced this and had some suggestions how to avoid this happening... thank you

Re: Underarm Problem...
It's actually better to exfoliate the day before you spray. Most solution company's will tell you not to exfoliate the day of your application. I haven't had any issues yet following those guidelines. :) There are quite a few others with more experience that should chime in soon though! :)

Re: Underarm Problem...
I tell my clients not to use deodorant, but of course they still do. When their pits turn green, I just smile and tell them I see the deodorant. They know its on them. Anyway, when they shower, the green goes away and they have nice color. Not much you can do if they don't listen to you......

Re: Underarm Problem...
i only have my clients exfolliate day of with baking soda on a cotton washcloth. Never had a problem. The baking soda neutralizes skins natural ph/alkaline balance. Green can be a number of reasons (leftover perfumes, deoderants, high diet in fruits and veges) , but always goes away.

Re: Underarm Problem...
Actually, I just learned about this problem in my training. The green is caused by the aluminum found in their deoderant. It is actually harmless and does not hurt the tan in anyway...just a chemical reaction.

Re: Underarm Problem...
I actually buy aluminum and paraban free deoderants. I prefer not using chemicals on my skin. :)
