Hi, I'm fairly new. I have been an airbrush tan tech for about 6 months and watching this forum for about 5 months.
![]() Does anyone do airbrush tattoos in addition to the airbrush tanning? I am in the Huntsville, AL and my clients have shown alot of interest in airbrush tattoos. We already have the compressor and airbrush pen (for filling in tan lines etc.....). So, the only cost would be ink and stencils. I am located in a nail salon that also offers theraputic massage. Right now we are really slow and I know the tanning will pick up again late February. Just wondering if any one has tried tattoos or is doing it. Here are my main questions: ![]() 1. When you airbrush tan and tattoo, which do you do first, or do you do them on seperate days to allow for a shower. Then would you do the tattoo first? 2. What do you charge for a tattoo? Do you charge more according to size, black ink or color, or number or colors used. 3. Currently, we charge $25 per tan with the salon getting $15 and I get $10 plus tips. If I purchase the ink and stencils, what would be a fair cut for the salon? Or should the salon buy the supplies? In that case, what would be a fair split? Thank you so much for any help you can provide. Sharon. ![]() |

Re: Does anyone do airbrush tattoos
We did the tattoo first, otherwise it will not stick.
$8 on up depending on size/colors. But usually no more than $20. You will not be able to use your system for this, unless you can split the line to have two different regulators - different pressures for both. And then you will need a brush for each color, unless you plan on washing the one after every color change which will take a TON of time to do right not to mention a waste of rather expensive inks. Best bet is to get a multi-color air-brush and color distributor. It lets you change colors on the fly. One "color" is alcohol. You switch from a color to alcohol to clean then to the next color. We happen to have such system in storage ;) And stencils... and posters I think.... |

I'm fairly new to the business as well and have been doing spray tanning for about 6 months and it is beginning to catch on in my area. Of course, I have to get past the "Will turn orange?" remarks every time with a new customer who is curious about it. I, too, was wondering if airbrush tattoos would be a nice addition to my salon. Anyone currently doing it, is it a good money sideline to the business? I have been enjoying and educating myself via this site for awhile, occasionally with an input here or there, but you guys are a terrific source for info. Thanks!

Re: Does anyone do airbrush tattoos
I think we made more money with the system at events then we did in the salon :)
By the way, with some inks you can preeminently paint clothing. So you could customize back-packs and such! |

Re: Does anyone do airbrush tattoos
TAT-International is the product line we used. How long it lasts depends on location. On the face, a few days but we had plenty last over two weeks. Avoid getting shampoo in the tat or it will degrade.
The best part of the stuff we used was once the client no longer wanted it, or once it started to break-up, they use rubbing alcohol to remove it. You would have NO CLUE it was ever there. I would highly recommend checking out TAT International.
