I agree completely but some people just feel more comfortable getting hands on training. Most companys will come and do training. Some charge for it and some include it in the price. This depends on how much you are paying for your system. The higher priced ones usually have the cost of the training already figured in.

As for paying for training, I truely think that is a waste of money. If you can go to a tradeshow that the company you want to buy from is at they will train you right there.

Paying to get trained and only have 1 person to practice on really is a huge joke. I would have asked for my money back.

Pretty much after you spray 2 people you have it. You can get a product called one day spray that is pretty much colored water if you are worried about screwing it really bad.

Another idea is to put water in the gun instead of the solution and practice spraying on cardboard. it shows up wonderful and you aren't wasting your products.

Re: Training

Thanks for your responses so far - I am learning alot. Right now I'm looking at systems from Fantasy Tan, and CalTan's mobile system. I would love to have an Infinity Sun system, but not sure I want to spend that kind of money. Any of you have experience with these systems?? Let me know!

Re: Training

If money is an issue you are looking in the wrong place. You can get a Paasche unit for like $300.00.

Re: Training

Money isn't necessarily an issue. I want to buy the best I can, but if I can be just as happy with a system that costs $900 as one that costs $5000, obviously I'll buy the system for $900. Do you have exerience with any other systems besides paasche? Give me the pros and cons on paasche (in your opinion).

Re: Training

1. Price
2. Takes 5 minutes to spray 3. Great customer service.
Only con might be transporting for mobile. My next suggestion would be the Apollo Whisper Mist

Re: Training

i started out self taught and thought I was doing a good job until a professional thats been in the Business of spraying for years came and taught me and I couldn't beleive all the errors I had been making (thinking I was doing good). There are some little secrets that the professional's know that you would never think of and my training was priceless. I would recommend to anyone starting out, especially if your doing strictly sunless, get someone to help you that knows the tricks of the trade because there are MANY tricks!!! Also recommend getting certified so you know how the process works and what the ingredients are made of. I am NTTI certified and it took less than two hours on the web to get my certification!

Re: Training

Blondie I have the FT system and they come and train you when you purchase their equipment. Their system comes on wheels and has both HVLP and airbrush with their system. The airbrush is for the face and for contouring. They offer 7 solutions and a crap load of sprakles and other products that will set you apart.

Red face Re: Training

I, too, took the certification course (NTTI), mainly to instill confidence in my clients that I wasn't just someone who picked up a spray gun and decided to start a spray tanning business. jrhef, I think it amazing about the spray only salon, I've seen a few of those, especially in the northeast and was wondering how they do? Does anyone know of a good press release for spray tanning, my local paper is willing to put it in the health and wellness section of their paper this month. I have the caltan mobile system and use the caltan sunless solution and have not had any problems so far...

Re: Training

missyhot, how do you like the sparkle stuff, do you get a lot of requests for it? Do you just put the sparkles in the solution and then spray or is it sprayed on separately? I've been getting a lot of questions from customers regarding body contouring especially ab work?
