Re: Help with spraying technique,Please..

It is always up to the client to how long there tan is going to last. The usual is 7-10 days, but if they don’t maintain it, then it’s not going to last. I always stress moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!! Remind them that the tan is on the top layer of there skin and when they shed skin they are shedding there tan! I always spray 2 coats, it makes them also think they are getting more for there $! And you can touch up any areas you may have not sprayed enough on or even missed on the first round. If they don’t want there face too dark, do one coat on it. It’s always up to the client. If they want more than 2 coats, charge for a double session. You let them dry for like 30 mins and spray them with 2 more light coats that will make them dark!! But I would wait until they at least had a session first to see how they reacted to the solution.

I always start at the shoulders and go all the way down, then turn to the right shoulder to ankle (whisping ankle so it doesn’t get too much solution) and then make them put there arm up and do under. Then back (don’t forget y ou can make them bend at the waiste a little to get ladies “smile marks” that usually turn white in the bed) and then side again. Then inner thighs (making them lunge to each side) then face. NEVER do the face first b/c you want them to know what to expect.

If any new sprays want me to right down my full description of how I spray (routine) I will gladly tell you!

Okay. What kinds (brands) of soap do you recommend? I thought Ivory was okay, but I see that it isn't. When someone says the color isn't lasting I ask them immediately what kind of soap they are using. Usually its something they should not be using. Then they say, "well, what should I be using then?" Uh, I dunno.....
Also, sometimes where a woman is in her cycle will have a detrimental effect on their tan. Also, stress...

Doesn't bath & body have mineral oils in it? Is mineral oil okay after the application?

Re: Help with spraying technique,Please..

It most certainly sounds like the solution. It is a good idea to keep trying solution until you find one that works best for you. The skin should always be clean and exfoliated, preferably the day of the spray tan. Non abrasive fruit enzyme exfoliants are best, as they do not create minor abrasions in the skin and lend itself to a more even surface, this will ensure the skin is left only with young skin cells that will not flake off in the next few days. Stay away from oil based exfoliants too, as they will inhibit the development process. An aloe based primer should be applied to the skin +very lightly+ as not to interfere with the solution (or prolong drying time). We recommend that people wait as long as they can before sweating or showering (12 hours is best). Hydration is key, as the moisture activates the DHA in the skin and allows it to develop fully. Also, it will keep the skin cells hydrated and prevent them from drying out and flaking off, along with the tan.

Re: Help with spraying technique,Please..

First off, thank you Niko for the invaluable input! A really great post! Secondly, people, just use the same technique you used when painting your bicycle as a kid - 3" TO 6" away, and shake the can vigorously between body parts. Hope this helps.

Re: Help with spraying technique,Please..

okay- started spraying two coats but now I think it is to dark and some have turned out a little blotchy. Do you guys spray the face twice as well? I must be spraying them two fast or not doing something right. It is lasting much longer but of course it last when its not perfect. Then they can look at it and really know they are unhappy. Ahh...I just want to do this right!!! Could I have my gun on the wrong setting or something?? And they have also complained about smelling for the first 2 days. I had someone spray me with 2 coats and I did notice the solution smell more. Anything to counter act that??
