I will be announcing certain events we will be sponsoring and certain times we will be available and set up appointments or accept walk ins at the various locations. We have some sapce in the community building for some of the apartment complexes, some space on campus, and some space at a local tanning place that doesn't do sunless. Of course we will still be doing events at the local pub but we won't be occupying it full time. I appreciate all of your input. By changing the plan I am eliminating any kind of rent at all, the locations mentioned above will have me there free of charge as they benefit from the increased traffic. The changes will also eliminate the costs of downtime and having the place staffed (mainly this is a savings that represents time as the business is staffed with immediate family). Finally I think this will create a sense of anticipation as we will not be available all the time and thus cannot be "put off", you're either there when we are there or you're not. Now, any ideas on some great products I can sell, like moisturizers, exfoliators, other things like that? |

Many of you know me, as I have been in the sunless business for nearly 5 years, as both a MagicTan distributor and CEO of Infinity Sun. I have seen some rather encouraging changes with the implementation of sunless both in salons and mobile services. It seems that the better educated (in this arena) and committed to the success of this type of service a provider is, the better results they have and the stronger their following. Having placed units and trained and supported our clients all over the country, I can say that apart from demographic considerations, they key to success with this type of product/service is how informed the end user is on what to expect and how to get the most from the service they receive. Suffice it to say, determining that the market and choosing a system that delivers results that you can stand behind is the first step. The real determinant is the implementation and follow-through from the provider and the way the service is positioned in that market. Without that, your spray system (regardless of quality) is worthless. It is a real commitment, but one that can be very lucrative when done correctly. Also, I have seen that college towns can do very well and it is indeed seasonal, which is fine, as long as the other side of the market is cultivated in tandem with that segment. Partnerships with local businesses who have real "buy in" is like increasing your marketing team for locals, which plays an important role. you have to have the mentality that "every customer must be satisfied" as any unhappy customer spreads ill health to your business like a cancer, and should therefore be treated especially well. This is just good business practice but especially important in sunless, where the market needs to be reeducated (after prior bad experiences) that not all spray tans are orange, streaky and fade unevenly. I could go on about this for hours, as I am most passionate about this subject but to answer the original question, yes, I think there is good opportunity there. Unfortunately I am not a sponsor so I can not tout our products, so I won't comment there. Good luck if you do decide to go through with it, but always keep in the back of your mind the ways to leverage these relationships to sell other products/services (even if only though partnerships). That will give you the biggest bang for your buck. |

I like it when people come on here and ask the opinions of veterans that have been doing it for 10, 15, 20 years and then when they don't get the info they want to hear, they say everyone is wrong. Like everyone on here don't know what they are talking about.....ahahahahahahahah. If you want someone to agree with you, call your mommy. If you want a shot of reality, keep on posting.!
