Mobile Sunless Credit Card Payment?

Hello,
I am starting up a mobile spray tan business and have been thinking about payments by clients. Do you take strictly cash and checks or do you pay for a service to process credit cards also? Not sure which avenue to take here. Any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks:)

Re: Mobile Sunless Credit Card Payment?

Yes, you have to pay for a service to process cards. There are mobile solutions that use cellular services to provide wireless/battery operated machines. Most processors should be able to help you with that!

She's trying to find out if many mobile tanners offer credit card service or just do cash and check. :)

Re: Mobile Sunless Credit Card Payment?

Starting out I would probably just take cash or checks and maybe have them pay in advance if possible.

I know nextel offered it for a while, but it may have beeen another company offering the service but baseing it on Nextel's network. I have seen them though. Go to your local flea market, and walk around some of the bigger vendors may have it. Also, call your CC processor along with a few others, and make inquieries. See if they'll allow a piggy back w/your cellular bill. I was in wireless for 12 years, and no carrier ever tackeld this directly.

Re: Mobile Sunless Credit Card Payment?

I recently got a credit card machine. Mine is not wireless - if I want to use it I plug into the client's phone line. It dials out toll free, so there isn't any charge to my client. I got mine through Merchant Warehouse. I called around to a ton of different places. Most of the reps seem to be cheesy salespeople who will tell you anything to get you to use them for your processing. My rep at Merchant wasn't like that (we spoke for over a week before I made my decision and he was never pushy), and I knew someone else that has used them for quite awhile and never had any problems with them. If you're interested in my reps name and contact info, let me know and I'll find it all for you.

Re: Mobile Sunless Credit Card Payment?

By the way - most people still pay with cash or check. The credit card machine is handy though, because sometimes people bring just enough money for the tan. If you're selling aftercare products, they're more likely to buy if you take credit. I've only had my machine for 2 weeks and I've made sales I wouldn't have made without it.

Thanks for the info Blondie I was considering the credit card machine... now I think I will go with it, especially if that means making another sale.

What model of c.c. machine did you go with?

Re: Mobile Sunless Credit Card Payment?

It is a Nurit - I'm not quite sure of the model #. It was pretty cheap compared to some of the others I looked at.
