Re: Cal Tan solution feedback needed

Ever since the Mystic Tan came out with the premium solution, we have no complaints. The nice thing is increased competition has brought the cost down :-).

Re: Cal Tan solution feedback needed

I don't see why not. It would probably negate any warranty on the machine of they ever found out. Probably wouldn't hurt to try it. Good luck.

Yeah I'm pretty sure using anything besides the Magic VSpa solutions negates your warranty. And if you have an outstanding lease obligation, it might get you into trouble with them too...

Otherwise all sprays are the same, container wise.

1. Expensive - $100/gallon
2. Cosmetic bronzer goes on spotty - I know this fades and then washes off but it still does not make the customer feel good when they get it applied.
3. Even though the VersaSpa dries (and I have even extended the dry cycle) the amount of cosmetic bronzer that rubs off on their clothes is still more than I think is acceptable.
4. The tan does not last more than 2 days. I know this could vary by person...but I use it on myself and have the same results. I exfoliate and have heavily hydrated/moisturized skin and the tan still does not last long

That is why I am looking for a better solution. I paid a good amount of money for the VersaSpa and don't want it to become a paper weight. I definately have a good amount of people still coming to the salon that want sprays or combinations UV and UV Free.
What do you mean by it does not last more than two days? This sounds a lot like things clients say when they expect it to stay the same "strength" of color for 7 days. It fades. Its supposed to, your skin exfoliates naturally and with it your tan. So you are saying you have absolutely no tan after 2 days? Or that its not as tan as it was the day after you sprayed?

I have a VersaSpa and use the Magic Tan solution for it. I also inform my clients that the bronzer spray is brown in color and when they are fair or untanned you can see where it sprays on their body. Then it absorbs into the skin and the erythrlose and DHA take effect after about 6 hours, maximizing after 12. Instant color washes off with the first shower. I would imagine this is the case with any spray. The darker skinned people, either by having a base tan or just a naturally dark skin tone don't see this.

Anyway, perhaps you should try other solutions to see if you like them better. However, my advice is that you tell them what they should expect before they get into the booth and that way they wont come to you complaining later where it look as if you are making excuses for bad results.

Nothing wrong with that machine or solution. I tell you...its great.

Re: Cal Tan solution feedback needed

Didn't the lawsuit between caltan and mystic solve that problem of voiding the warranty just because you use a different solution? I think, unless it actually did cause damage (gelled up in the nozzles or ate through a line) you could still get them to honor the warranty.

I'm pretty sure, not 100% though, that it still says it will void the warranty in the Magic paperwork...I'll have to go look..

Re: Cal Tan solution feedback needed

putting in the manual and being able to enforce it are 2 very different things. I think you would have a real case if they chose not to honor your warranty just because you used a comparable solution.
