Re: Uncomfortable Customers?
montagostocee, if you ever see this style robe they work very nice with costmetic tanning. It's velcro enclosed and doesn't need to rub along your clients arm if you want to send them directly to the stand up. You can just drop it on their shoulders very lightly and not worry about streaking their bronzers. Also if you can buy the crushed velour they dry incredibly fast when you launder them and buy the largest size you can find. She is a small model and that's a Large robe because you want it to lay loose on them.

Re: Uncomfortable Customers?
you should be a man and do this!! i hear it all,i just tell them that only 3% of the people i do are hot and that they are in the top 3!! when they dont belive me i tell them that they wouldn't belive the things i see. also i take before and after pics of the people i do (that will allow it)that seems 2 help ease there nervs when they see over 100 pics of all size and shape people lookin scared in the before and feelin sexy in the after. i point out the body language difference from before and after, that usually sells the product.
when i first started doing sprays and airbrush i found myself getting defensive, dont do that!! just tell them they dont have 2 go naked, i did a girl last week in skorts and a tank top,its completly up 2 them. most people want 2 be confrontational if the feel bad about thereselves dont get caught in that trap!! when they say your gonna see me naked!!! say:only if you take your clothes off! keep a light harted attitude. if they keep on and on about it that means the realy wanna do it they're just scared, so be patient with them! what i learned is this when they ask: "what do i wear" say what ever ya want, its your modesty not mine, belive me i seen it all" that usualy stops all the drama right there. its makes it their choice on what to wear, not someone telling them they have 2 go nude. |

Re: Uncomfortable Customers?
I always tell people that ask, "wear whatever you're comfortable with". Most will come in to see me wearing a swimsuit and then change their mind and go topless after they've talked to me for a few minutes. I guess it takes them that long to figure out I'm not some horrible, scary person who actually gives a crap what they look like naked. =)
I do think the more information you give them, the better. I remember being nervous the first time I went to get a spray tan, because I didn't know what to expect. The chick didn't do a good job of explaining anything to me, so I decided I would do things differently. |

Re: Uncomfortable Customers?
Well I think one of my girls just had the most comfortable client ever
She was actually the owner for another local "mobile spray tan" company. She actually told her after everything was said and done. She was very impressed with everything that was done though. I'm glad everything went as well as it did! Just thought I'd share since this litterally just happend :) |

Re: Uncomfortable Customers?
I am new at this too. Iusually tell potential clients that I have sprayed people of all ages, sizes and skin types.... that I am professional and that they will feel amazing when it's over. I tell them how quick it is and that they can dress down to their own comfort level as long as the groin is covered.
when a client arrives, i usually am wearing my black apron with rubber gloves, so i present myself professionally and ready to treat them. |

Re: Uncomfortable Customers?
Your room looks great! That poster would make me a little insecure, though. Most people know when they are going to get an airbrush tan, massage, waxing, or any body service that you have to be comfortable being exposed to another person. But, hey, they might freak out once it's time to actually take off their clothes. I've been doing airbrush for about 2 years (this is my first post though!) & have encountered all sorts of clients from painfully shy to totally uninhibited. I try to be as playful as possible. Really. I weigh a little over 100 lbs so when people see me they usually make a comment like "oh, I don't want you to see my fat!" I just smile and say "we all feel that way! that's why I spray tan to feel cute & skinny! EVERYONE looks better tan!" I make a lot of silly jokes, and poke fun at the situation. I've told women clients that if they can go to gyne or get a bikini wax, they can do this!!! Most people laugh & bond with me right away. By the end of the session we're usually chatting away like BFFS. Gotta feel each person out & keep it professional, but humor always works for me.

Re: Uncomfortable Customers?
I always tell them to start with what they are comfortable with. My larger clients will start with shorts and a tank top. They love the tan so much that they continue coming and wear less and less. The larger ladies typically go no further than a bathing suit which is perfectly fine with me!
The key is to make them feel comfortable. If they are uncomfortable, they will not be a repeat customer. You also have a very cute picture posted. To many of these women, this is very intimidating. You appear to be "Perfect" and that's kind of hard to expose yourself if you fell inferior. Try to keep this in mind depending on your client. |

Re: Uncomfortable Customers?
I really like the idea of the wrap around with straps! Where do you find the light weight ones? The only ones I can find are the terry cloth and that would rub places in the shoulder area, wouldn't it? Unfortunately, my clients have to sprint from one room to another until I can get a door installed between the spray room and the stand-up. They haven't seemed to mind either - and you know what? I think Tennesseans must be totally uninhibited, cause I have had no problems with them "shedding their clothes"!
