Re: What is the Best "Tan Tent" for mobile spray tanning?

Hi Eileen

There isn't an opening on the back of the tent. My turbine unit doesnt emit alot of overspray so I'm fine without a fan/filter.

After looking at the tent i think you could cut an opening and then maybe use/apply gorilla glue or modge podge glue to hem those areas to prevent fraying.

Re: What is the Best "Tan Tent" for mobile spray tanning?

I would not use gorilla glue as that can get very messy. There is some stuff at WalMart back in the sewing department (or any other hobby store). It's used for exactly that purpose - to prevent fraying. I'd recommend that over the other suggestions. My tent has the opening in the back and it rolls up and ties so there's an option of having it up or down. Maybe when you cut the opening, leave the top piece so that you can use it either way. It would be easy enough to use large black clips from the office supply stores to keep it up. You don't see the back any way.
I would recommend using the ventilation fan regardless of whether you think there's a lot of over spray or not. You can create your own - a 20" x 20" box fan with a filter works perfect. I use velcro to keep the filter in place.

Re: What is the Best "Tan Tent" for mobile spray tanning?

thanks koipondgirl

The reason for me suggesting the modge podge or gorilla glue is because the stuff for hemming in the sewing section is iron on if im not correct?

With respect to the fan how did you adhere the velcro? also did you go all out and actually spray paint the fan black?

Thanks again for your help/suggestions Im going to go and buy a fan and black filters...

if you get a black lifetime filter for the front of the fan you won't need to paint it black.

Re: What is the Best "Tan Tent" for mobile spray tanning?

The fray stuff in the sewing dept is a liquid that you can apply to the unfinished edges of fabric. You may have to apply a couple of coats. I did not spray paint the fan black. It's white. I do clean it off frequently.
Also in the sewing/craft dept (or even at Lowes or Home Depo) you can purchase heavy duty velcro with double-sided adhesive. Apply one side to the filter and one side to the fan.
Eileen, what is the black lifetime filter? I've never heard of this.

Re: What is the Best "Tan Tent" for mobile spray tanning?

I HATE my mobile tent! The sunless company I bought it from shall remain nameless. I found it to be a burden to carry and assemble and after a couple of uses it actually started to colapse on people (The force of the air dryer). I decided to offer only if clients were not comfortable using their own shower.

Re: What is the Best "Tan Tent" for mobile spray tanning?

I'm quite pleased with my eBay tent. It's 4 feet wide by 4 feet deep and 7 feet tall. The door is taller than I am (5'10"). It has a floor and a 20"x20" fan door in the back. Also comes with a nice carry pouch. Price $79 delivered. We've been using it in the garage for about a month now and it seems to be holding up great. Whether it would hold up to daily mobile use, I can't say.

LOL

oh come on Girlietan SPILL IT! give the rest of us a heads up!

I just want to thank all of you for your input and help. I cut a hole in the back of th tent and put the anti fray stuff on it then bought a box fan and filter and it works great!

I'm happy with the 29.95 tent and i have been unfolding it and setting it up for a month now ... dont notice ant probs... I also purchased mini 25watt clip on lights from home depot (6 total) place 2 on the top 2 in the middle front and 2 on bottom front.... great lighting during evening sprays...(a majority of my sprays are at night)
