I have all of this in my client release form, I hand them winkies, undergarments, nose filters, hair caps and chapstick if they don't have one. I figured this into the price when I started.

I did actually spend the money on the BEST filter system I could find. On their site they claim to be the first system to actually get FDA and Osha approval but I'm not sure how to verify the claim just yet... however I'm extremely impressed with how it pulls the mist right out of the air.

So if they have a mask over their mouth, nose plugs and Eye goggles, how do you spray their face. I can't even imagine AND you are talking about Spray Booths. I'm talking about manual spray tans. I have LOADS of literature to back up my postiion also that DHA is NOT harmful.

Two different things, booths and manual sprays!!!!

As a business owner we must follow FDA regulations. I happen to think UV tanning is the BEST thing you can do for your health, I've collected two 3 inch binders full of University and scientific studies to back my opinion... but as a business owner in an FDA regulated business I do not advertise my opinions or sell them in any way. I don't have anything about it on my websites, facebook or myspace. Believe me if I lived in Canada I would have it everywhere! :)

I bought some nose filters from Envytan.com I actually bought @ EnvyTan's ebay store where they sell them cheaper & in larger quantities. I too had stumbled on that article that the FDA had released (the one Eileen is referring to) and decided to add it to my cost as well. It's not mandatory (as far as my understanding), that article was meant for consumers to make sure that THEY are protecting themselves because of the unknown risks as to if the substance is inhaled or exposed to our mucous membranes (internally). I just didn't want to take any chances.

DHA is approved for cosmetic purposes but that does not include airbrush tanning. The best thing to do with your waiver form is to run it by your insurance company.

I would be more concerned if they had open wounds or cuts on their bodies. If DHA is going to enter the blood stream, it's more apt to through an open would so do you put bandaids on all their cuts? I think it's a matter of interpetation and I dont believe that because I dont MANDATE my spray tan clients to wear nose plugs, eye goggles, mouth peices or whatever doesn't make me a irresponsible salon owner. I have those items mentioned and are available but it's not Mandatory in my salon and I would say to you newbies, you need to decide for yourself how you will approach this. The spray tan police are not going to come and haul you off to spray tan jail (lol) and i would definately make these things available but I would NEVER force a customer to wear those things. Especially the goggles, they would look foolish after I spray them. JMO!
