Virgin Sprayer

When you did your very first spray tan , who was it on and how many free ones did you have to give away because you messed up so bad? Also, how many times before you felt comfortable and confident in your spray techniques.

Re: Virgin Sprayer

My first spray was my wife. She looked striped. My two daughters were next.

Then I started on salon employees.

I did about 10 sprays before I started on free sprays for customers. These were training sessions for 2 of my employees that I trained to spray.

i have since trained at least 10 people to do the spray tans . I only have one that is qualified that still works for me.

Re: Virgin Sprayer

your first one? probably 30 to 45 minutes.

After you know what you are doing and get comfortable, 20 minutes minimumto explain, let them prepare, spray, dry, get dressed and then clean up for the next customer.

I usually schedule 30 minutes apart.

Get a coke, rest room break, etc.

Re: Virgin Sprayer

We sprayed each other, our kids, and a couple family members. Then we did a few friends.

Basically after a few sprays you get the hang of it. We kept doing each other and friends for about a month or so just to try the different company's solutions. So you get lots of practice trying to figure out what solution to go with. Plus many solutions spray out differently so it nice to play around with that. Also it important to see what solution you like the best and which one you seem to get the best results with across a few different people. During this process you'll get all the practice you need.

Re: Virgin Sprayer

I think it depends on what type of spay tan: airbrush or HVLP systems..It takes me approx. 4 min to do a whole body with hvlp, but i schedule out every 10-15 min for client. Because they ask questions, dressing/undressing etc. Airbrush I think takes longer because of drying time..approx 20-30min I think I have read. I sprayed approx. 10 people. I also used a long mirror and sprayed daily to watch my tech. watching for overspray, patterns and my body movements. This worked great.. My first real spray my client was a little dark on the feet and lighter around the chest. But after that everyone seemed ok and happy..But .. to tell the truth I think you learn each and every spray and you perfect each and every spray..no matter how many years you have been doing service...:)

That's funny that you have added spray tanning since you have never had anything good to say about it in the past!

Only doing it because I have so many requests for it. I don't like seeing people with orange spray tans so I'm hoping to get knowledgable enough with all the different solutions to avoid that.
